Medical Center, Durham.
The funeral was April 15 in
Riley's Creek Baptist Church, with
burial in Riley's Creek Community
Cemetery. The Rev. Joey Faucctte
officiated.
Born in Birmingham, Ala., on
Sept. 27, 1946, he was the son of
Wanda Walsh and Woodie Gregory
Sr. of Winnabow. He was a member
of Riley's Creek Baptist Church and
of B.P.O. Elks. He owned Woodie's
Construction Company.
Survivors in addition to his par
ents include his wife, Rebecca
Rivenbark Gregory of the home; his
stepchildren, Suzanne Leigh Elks
and Michael Edward Elks of
Wilmington; a brother, Roy E.
Gregory of Wilmington; and a sis
ter, Mary Brown of Winnabow.

Mary Elizabeth Brooks of Wil
mington died April 14 in Pinnacle
Care Center. She was 75.

Family Cemetery, Ocean Isle Beach
Road, by the Rev. George D.
Spcakc.
Miss Brooks was born in Wilm
ington on April 5, 1916, the daugh
ter of the late George Evans and
Stella Leonard Brooks.
Survivors include her sister, Lula
J. Brooks of Shallotte; and a friend,
Annie Lou Davis, of the home.

Robert Lee Pearson of Northwest
community, Lcland.died April 14 in
New Hanover Regional Medical
Center.
The funeral was held April 18 at
Bethel AME Church, with burial in
the Jenkins Familv Cemetery.

Samuel W. Andrews, 67, of Sun
set Beach, died April 19 in in Duke
Medical Center, Durham.
Bom in Chapel Hill, Andrews
was a graduate of the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He moved to Sunset Beach in
1985 from Durham, which had been
his home since 1947. He retired
from Duke Medical Center after 20
years in employee relations.
A well-known tenor saxophone
player, he played with big bands in
cluding The Satierfield Orchestra,
Dick Gable Allsiars, and his own
band. Aged to Perfection.
Andrews was a veteran of World
War II and was a member of First
Presbyterian Church of Durham.
Survivors include his wife, Sop
hie Alexander Andrews; two daugh
ters, Elizabeth A. Padgett of Raleigh
and Josephine S. Andrews of At
lanta, Ga.; two sons, Samuel Wel
don Andrews Jr. of Durham and
Alexander Crawford Andrews of
Greensboro; two sisters, Ruth Ellen
Rigsbec of Charlotte and Frances
Roberts of Hawaii; a brother, Ralph
P. Andrews of Tcquesta, Fla.; and
three grandchildren.
Andrews was to be cremated.
In lieu of flowers, the family sug
gested that memorials be made to

residence. She was 90.

Born in Shallotte on Aug. 18,
1901, she was the daughter of the
late Daniel Whitfield and Sophia
While Rcynoias. She was ihe widow
of Henry Thomas Lewis. Four of her
children-Henry, Thurston, James
Edward and Ruth Eileen Lewis-pre
ccdcd her in death. She was a mem
ber of Wood bum Presbyterian
Church.

Home, Baltimore, Md.

Galloway Cemetery.
Mrs. Sellers was born in Bruns
wick County on Oct. 30, 1913, the
daughter of the late Norwood and
Lcnorc Belle Sellers Clcmmons. She
was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist
Church.
Survivors includc her daughter,
Nina B. Bryant of Baltimore, Md.;
and two stepsons, Burgwyn Sellers
of Supply and John Paul Sellers of
Southport.
JOHN RICHARD HOELLMAN
John Richard Hoellman, 74, of
Carolina Shores, died April 20 at his
home on Pincwood Drive.
The family will receive friends
Friday at their residence from 6:30
p.m. until 9 p.m.
A private service will be held at
Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood,
Md., at a laier date.
Hoellman was born in Rockvillc,
Md., the son of the late Luther A.
and Ethel A. Elliott Hoellman. He
was a retired electronic engineer
with Curtiss Instruments. He was a
member of the Calabash Elks and
the Ocean Isle and Carolina Shores
Golf Clubs.
Survivors includc his wife, Made
line Vickers Hoellman of Calabash;
three sons, John Richard Hoellman
of Johnson City, Tcnn., Joseph Jay
Hoellman of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.,
and Robert James Hoellman of Lake
Carmcl, N.Y.; a daughter, Jane

N.Y.; five grandchildren; and four
step-grandchildren.

He was bom in Ash on June 15,
1914, a son of the late Cleve and
Maudie Smith Long. He was a re
tired farmer.
