West Brunswick Girls Lead Six-Team Track Field BY DOl't; R UTTER The Wcsi Brunswick girls' track team won its third straight confer ence meet last Thursday, leading a field of six teams with 1 16 points. Irene Johnson led the Lady Trojans with wins in the 200-mctcr run and triple jump. She also com peted on the winning 800-meter re lay team. Melissa Johnson won the 400-me ter run. Laura Hill won the 3(X)-me tcr hurdles and Medina Moore won the 100-meter hurdles for West. South Brunswick finished second with 80 points, getting wins in the shot put and 3200-meter relay. North Brunswick won the long jump, 100-tnctcr dash and 1600-me ter relay and edged East Bladen for third place 77-76. Fairmont had 71 [x>ims and West Columbus had 42. The West Columbus boys made up for the last-place finish by the girls by racking up 189 points for an easy win. North Brunswick finished second with 152 |X)ints. The Scorps won seven events including the high jump, triple jump, pole vault, 2(X) meter run, 800-meter run and 8(X) mctcr and 3200-meter relays. East Bladen was third will) 80, followed by South Brunswick with 45, West Brunswick with 34 and Fairmont with 25. " North Boys , West Girls Win Waccamaw Meet West Brunswick's girls and North Brunswick's boys won a Waccamaw 2-A Conference track meet last Tuesday at Boiling Spring Lakes. The Lady Trojans got wins in the triple jump, high jump, 1 IO meter hurdles, 200-mcter run, 400-meter run, 800-metcr run and 800-meter relay to edge host South Brunswick l>4-80. Fairmont finished third in the girls' meet with 64 points, followed by North Brunswick with 59 and East Bladen with 43. South's Lady Cougars posted wins in the shot put, discus and 1600-meter relay. North's girls won the long jump and 100-meter dash. North Brunswick dominated the boys' meet, rack ing up 156 points with wins in the discus, high jump, 100-meter run, 200-meter run, 800-meter run, 1600 mctcr nin, 3200-meter run and all four relay events.
