Church Softball League after three
weeks of play.
Calvary, which leads the north di
vision, improved to 4-0 last Friday
with an 18-11 win over Lotties
Grove.
In the south division, Jennies
Branch moved into first place at 2-0
last Thursday with a 1-6 win over
previously-unbeaten Friendship
Baptist.
In other games last week,

9-8, Ocean View topped Zion Bap
tist 22-10, Shallottc First Baptist
routed Camp Methodist 27-9 and

West Netters Sweep Fairmont
Wesi Brunswick's tennis team,
coming off a 9-0 sweep last week
over Fairmont, has almost two weeks
off because of the Easter holidays.
The Trojans won all nine matches
last Tuesday at Fairmont in a
Waccamaw 2-A Conference event
that had been rained out earlier this
season.
The West Brunswick boys will
face the same Golden Tornadoes
when they resume play Monday,
April 27, at home.
The Trojans will also travel to
South Robeson next Wednesday and
then host South Brunswick Thursday
in a make-up match.
West Brunswick went into the
spring break sporting a 4-1 record in
the conference and overall mark of 4

County Plans Two Bike Rides
How docs a icisurciy bicyclc ride
on Oak Island or along the South
port waterfront sound?
Brunswick County Parks and Re
creation is planning two evening
bike rides next month, with the first
scheduled Wednesday, May 6.
Participants will meet at Yaupon
Beach Pier at 6:30 p.m. and embark
on a slow-paced ride to the Oak
Island Lighthouse.
The second ride will be a tour of
the Southport waterfront on Wed
nesday, May 27. Riders will meet at
the waterfront park at 6:30 p.m.
For both rides, children must be
accompanied by their parents, and
all riders must provide their own
water.

Two events for local senior citi
zens arc planned by the Brunswick
County Parks and Recreation De
partment.
A "Spring Fling" dance, will be
held Friday, April 24, from 7 p.m. to
9 p.m. at the Shallotte Senior Cen
ter. Live entertainment is planned
and light refreshments will be
served.
On May 13. the department will
sponsor its second senior bowling
tournament at Brunswick Bowling
Center in Shallotte.
Medals will be awarded in each
age group, and winners will qualify

Foot Races Saturday
Doshcr Memorial Hospital of
South port will sponsor the "Over
The Oak" races Saturday, April 25.
The one-mile walk will start at 8
a.m., followed by a 10-kilometer
race at 8:30 a.m.
Early entry fees arc $6 for the
mile and $8 for the 10K. The fee
will be SI higher for people who en
ter Saturday.
The first 125 entrants will receive
free T-shirts. All proceeds will bene
fit the Doshcr Memorial Hospital
Scholarship Fund.
