He has black hair, stands about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs around I 87 pounds. Carroll walked from the nursing home around 9:30 a.m. Friday en route to the Scotchman store in 3cl villc and hasn't been seen since, said Marlowe. He is disabled and has no sense of direction, but should have the name and address of the nursing home in his possession. Carroll has wandered away before but was later found, lie was a board er at the home on Blackwell Road Leland. Anyone with information should call Lt. Marlow at the Brunswick County Sheriff's Department, 253 4321. Calabash Sets Award Dinner A Governor's Recognition and Award dinner will be held Saturday Aug. 15, 7 p.m., at Riverside Rest aurant on the Calabash River, said barren "Bud" Knapp, chairman of the Calabash Town Festival Com mittee. The newly-formed committee has planned an August 14-16 festival sponsored by local merchants to boost tourism in the waterfront com munity. The award dinner is part of those plans, which stems from the town's selection by Gov. Jim Martin to participate in the N.C. Coastal Initiative Program. Two local waterfronts, Calabash and Southport, were chosen by Martin to take part in the program that encourages protection of water quality and fisheries habitats along the coast. A festival committee has been chosen to plan the August event. Members also include Paul Walker vice chairman, and Linda Walters' treasurer. Volunteers Needed For Dolphin Watch In Cape Fear Area Nature bulfs arc needed for a re search and education project de signed to gather information on coastal bottlcnosc dolphins in the Cape Fear region. Cetacean Awareness Programs, a volunteer group interested in pro tecting and preserving marine mam mals and their environment, will conduct a dolphin watch Saturday, April 25, between New River and Corncake inlets. Volunteers arc need to look for dolphins along Topsail Island, Fig ure Eight Island, Wrightsville Beach, Masonboro Island, Carolina Beach and Kure Beach from 8 a.m until noon Saturday. Participants must attend an orien tation Friday, April 24, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Morton Hall on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
