Robber Flees HY TERRY POPE Detcctivcs believe a man who nibbed the Sandpiper Seafood House restaurant in Lcland Sunday had robbed a Wilmington convenience store earlier in the day. The man entered the restaurant on Village Road around 3:21 p.m. and asked to use the restroom, said Brunswick County Sheriffs Detec tive Gene Caison. He returned from the restnxim two minutes later, gave the cashier a plas tic bag and told her to fill it with SlOs and S5s, said Caison. He left with an undetermined amount of money. "We're thinking it's possibly the same guy," said Caison. "He never showed a weapon. He just placed his hand up under his left armpit like he had one." A description of the black male that robbed a Fast Fare store on Wrightsville Avenue in Wilmington around 1 1 am. fit those of the Lcland robber. He is described as 20 to 25 years old, approximately 6 feet tall, weigh ing from 200 to 210 pounds, with a light complexion, short black hair and a large nose. He was wearing a red flannel shirt over a second shirt and dark pants. 'Hie suspect in the Wilmington robbery was also wearing glasses, a baseball cap and work boots. Restaurant employees said the rob ber fled on foot toward Old Fayettevillc Road.
