Driver Faces Manslaughter
Charge From Road Fatality
A Nakina man chargcd with driving while impaired following a fatal
accident in September was indictcd on an involuntary manslaughter
charge last week.
Rent) Sjvnccr Williamson Jr., 22, of Route 1, was charged with dri
ving while impaired and driving while his license was revoked following
a Sept. 3 wreck near Ash that resulted in the death of Charles Keith
Hardwick, 22, of Route 6, Whitcville.
Williamson's 1987 Chevrolet pickup slid on a bridge on Ash-Little
River Road (S.R. 1300) and struck a concrete railing near Ethcridge
Road (S.R. 1308). State Trooper T.W. Caulder reported.
Hardwick died at the scene. Williamson was seriously injured and
hospitalized.
The grand jury also indictcd the following on chargcs:
?Wayne Brown, of Supply, breaking and entering, larceny and posses
sion of stolen goods in connection with a March 28, 1991, brcak-in at
1 1 1 Strawflower Street, Holdcn Reach.
?Ruth Darlcne Futch, 49, of P.O. Box 1664. Shallottc, two counts of
taking indecent liberties with children.
?Almond Junior Graham, 39, of Fairhaven Mobile Home Park, Lcland,
first-degree statutory rape and statutory sexual offense.
?Gilbert James Green, 26, of P.O. Box 4?9. Shallottc, possession with
intent to sell and deliver marijuana and sale and delivery of 3.8 grams of
marijuana.
?Carl Henry Hcwctt, 33, of P.O. Box 388, Supply, two counts of taking
indecent liberties w ith children and two counts of first-degree rape.
?Darryl Hcwctt. 26, of Route 2, Supply, possession of cocaine and pos
session with intent to sell and deliver of mari juana.
?Arnold Ray Mercer, 38. of Route 2, Supply, possession with intent to
sell and deliver cocaine, possession of cocaine, sale and delivery of co
caine and two counts of maintaining a dwelling or vehicle to keep and
sell drugs.
?Kenneth Lee Nobles, or Route 1, Lcland. felony child abuse.
?Harry Mitchell Sidbury. 44, of Route 2. Supply, possession of cocaine
and possession with intent to manufacture cocaine.
?Bcnnie M. Stanley, 20, of Route 4, Shallottc, possession with intent to
sell and deliver cocaine and sale of cocaine.
?Anthony Vcrecn, 22, of Keel Circle, Poplar, S.C., possession of co
caine and possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine.
?Billy Charles West. 34, of 14th Placc East. Long Beach, possession of
a controlled substance (Percodin), simple possession of a controlled sub
stance (Diazepan) and simple possession of a controlled substance (co
caine).
?Catherine Ann Williams, 31, of Route 3. Supply, habitual impaired dri
ving.

Grand jury indicts 23 Linked
To Undercover Drug Operation

Twcnly-thrcc persons charged in an under
cover drug operation were indictcd on various
charges by a Brunswick Couniy Grand Jury last
week.
The suspects were arrested following an on
going investigation by Southport police officers
and narcotics detectives with the Brunswick
County Sheriffs Department during February
and March.
The following were indictcd April 20:
?William Edward (Biv) Bell, 21, of Mulberry
Street, Shallotte, possession with intent to sell
and deliver cocaine and sale and delivery of .1
gram of cocaine.
?Michael Wayne Davis, 20, of 612 N. Lord
Street, Southport, possession with intent to sell
and deliver cocaine and sale and delivery of .1
gram of cocaine.
?William Alfred (Billie) Davis, 20, of 202
Leonard Street, Southport. two counts of posses
sion with intent to sell and deliver cocaine; two
counts of sale and delivery of cocaine; and two
counts of maintaining a dwelling to keep and sell
drugs.
?Willie Lcc Dixon, 40, of 712 Clarendon Ave.,
Southport, possession with intent to sell and de
liver cocaine and sale and delivery of .2 grams
of cocaine.
