ENTERTAINMENT BRIFFS Brunswick Band Plans Benefit Concert The Brunswick Conccrt Band will make its first concert appearance in Shallottc at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 17, in the Shallottc Middle School cafe teria. The conccrt is in support of Brunswick Adult Day Care centers in Shallottc and Southport. Donation tickets arc S5 for adults. S3 for students, and children under 10 arc admitted free. Tickets arc available at the Brunswick Adult Day Carc Center in Shallottc (754 2463) or from Kathcrinc Shawvcr (754-6129) or Isobcl Bccbc (845 2269). The Brunswick Concert Band has been in existence for five years, ap pearing primarily in the Southport area. Reid Performs Tonight Pamela Reid, former visiting artist at Brunswick Community Col lege, will present the music-and dance production. Sweet Soul Music at Southeastern Community College (SCC) at Whitcvillc at 8 p.m. today (Thursday) in the college auditori um. the final show of the SCC Performing Arts Scries. The show is a combination of popular jazz tunes of the 40s and 50s, and rhythm and blues form the 60s, featuring two backing vocalists, a dancer and a fivc-piccc rhythm section with Reid. School Bands Perform Bands at two local schools will present their spring concerts this month, director Craig Morris an nounced. The West Brunswick High School hand will perform at 7 p.m. May 1 1 in the school gym, in conjunction with the school chorus directed by Cheryl Skaggs. On May 18, the Waccamaw Elementary School band will pre sent its concert ai a PTO meeting, al 7:30 p.m. The high school band will hold its award banquet at 6:30 p.m. May 21 in the school cafeteria. Viewing Slated The film Landscape in Brunswick County will be shown at Brunswick Community College in the teaching auditorium Friday, May X, from noon to 12:30 p.m., 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. showing has been canccled. They're looking for volunteers for the 1 1th annual Blue Crab Festival to be held May 16 and 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Little River wa terfront. Volunteers arc needed to assist with ticket, T-shirt and soft drink sales, parking, registration and other duties.
