Elizabeth Kathryn Francis and Robert Thomas I.oftus Jr. were
married Feb. 22 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in
Chandler, Ariz. The bride, daughter of Mrs. Paul Henry Francis of
Erie, Pa., and the late Mr. Francis, is a secretary in the ASIC mar
keting department at Motorola Inc. in Chandler. The groom is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert T. Loftus Sr. of Ocean Isle Reach and
is a graduate of the University of Arizona at Tucson. He is a me
chanical design engineer in the advanced projects department of
McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Co. in Mesa, Ariz. The newlvweds
reside in Chandler.

j Grand Strand's Best Fest
I Happens This Weekend
The "Best Festival on the Beach"
will take place in scenic Little River,
S.C., May 16 anil 17 from 10 a.m. to
6 p.m. each clay.
The Blue Crab Festival features
more than 1 10 of the finest artist and
craftspeople in the southeast. An ar
ray of food will be offered, as well,
ranging from crab cakes to steamed
crabs and from pizza to grilled
chicken.
This festival was recently named
one of the "Top 20 Events in the
Southeast" by the Southeastern
Tourism Socicty. It attracted 35,000
visitors in 1991 and the festival
committee expects 40,000 this year.
Visitors should bring blankets and
lawn chairs and spend the day in
Little River, suggested Elizabeth
Teal, executive of the Little River
Chamber of Commerce, enjoying
the entertainment offered, from
blues to country, jazz, to beach, on
two entertainment stages. Also fea
tured will be doggers, square danc
ers and clowns, along with famous
acts such the Kerry Michaels Band,
the Mullets, the George McCorklc
Band and ventriloquist Deborah
Hucks.
Roaming the festival grounds will
be the Shrir.cn> Clowns, the famous
clown Miss T-Cup and many local
characters.
Indigo Farms of Hickman's
Crossroads will offer a petting zoo
with goats, chickens. Iambs and
horses.
Artists Plan Show
Members of the Waterway Art
Association will hold a juried show
Friday, May 29, with the show open
to the public May 30.
Local artists who do not belong to
the association, but would like to
participate in the show may call

The show will be held at the cor
ner of N.C. 179 at Bonaparte's
Landing. It will feature paintings on

An open-mike poetry reading for
all local poetry enthusiasts will be

munity College National Vocation
al-Technical Honor Socicty today

The public is invited to listen or
participate by presenting their own
work or the work of other poets, said

allocated to each participant will be
determined by the total number of
participants.
