The funeral was June 6 at Sabbath Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Leo Cannon and the Rev. Sidney Brut. Burial was in the church cem etery. Mrs. Fulford was born in Shal lotte on Aug. 20, 1903, and was the daughter of the late Marshall Carnie and Janic Lewis Hcwctt. She was a member of Sabbath Home Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Gibson of Nichols, S.C., Estcllc Johnson of Holden Bcach and Lois Moore of Winnabow; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchil dren: and two great-great-grandchil dren. KERMIT JACOB HOLLOWAY Kcrmit Jacob Holloway, 81, of Long Bcach, died June 4 at his resi dence. He was a retired building con tractor and from 1964 to 1974 was the owner and operator of Holloway Furniture Stone in Long Bcach. The funeral was held June 7 at Grandvicw Memorial Funeral Cha pel in Sparta, with Elder Dan Ed wards officiating. Bunal was in Whitehead Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Born Aug. 28, 1910, in Alleghany County, he was the son of the late John Mack and Nettie Edwards Holloway and moved to Long Bcach from High Point in 1964. Holloway was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Wolf Branch, a former member of Oak Island Lions Club and formerly served as a city councilman and mayor pro-tcm of Long Bcach. Survivors includc his wife. Manic Joincs Holloway of the home; a daughter, Nancy Holloway Davis of Southern Pines; a grandson; a grand daughter; and two great-grandsons. Texas Neil "Tex" Cheney Sr.. 56, of Sandy Creek, died June 4. The funeral was held June 8 in Seagate Bapust Church, with the Rev. Robert E. Lee officiating. Cheney was bom in Watcrbury, Conn., on March 31. 1936, the son of Leota C. Burr of Watcrbury, Conn., and the late Wallace Cheney. He retired in 1975 alter 21 years of service in the U.S. Coast Guard, and again in 1990 from the New Hanover County Sheriffs Depart ment as chief bailiff. He was a mem ber of Seagate Baptist Church. Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Julia Agnes Robinson Cheney of the home; a son, Texas N. Cheney Jr. of Wilmington; three daughters, Carol Marshbum of Wilmington and Frances Johnson and Jamie Lanier, both of Sandy Creek; three brothers, Ray Cheney of Connccticutt, Ben Cheney of California and Lannie Cheney of Florida two sisters, Edna Fisher of New York and Felicia Silpa ol Georgia; and six grandchildren.
