Hours Are Hunters' Choice
The N.C. Wildlife Resources
Commission is asking hunters what
hours ihey think dove hunting
should be permitted this fall.
Under the U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service guidelines, the state agency
is considering three options for
mourning dove season.
The state will either allow hunt
ing all day, allow it only in the after
noon or allow afternoon hunting on
ly in the season's first segment and
all day hunting during the other seg
ments.
Federal biologists consider each
option biologically sound, making
the choice a matter of hunter prefer
ence, according to a state news re
lease.
The wildlife commission is con
ducting a mail survey to get public
input before it sets hours for the up
coming dove season.
Some hunters will reccive a pos
tage-paid card in the mail on which
they can indicate their preference.
Other sportsmen are invited to send
a postcard or letter to the state
agency.
Comments can be mailed to N.C.
Wildlife Resources Commission,
Wildlife Management Branch, 512
N. Salisbury St., Raleigh, N.C.
27604-1188.
The commission is expected to
make a decision on the mourning
dove season hours at its July 22
meeting, the news release indicated.
