Greenhouse Going Up At Campus Weather permitting, a 20-foot by 100-foot greenhouse will be erected ?oday (Thursday) at Brunswick Community College's main campus north of Supply. The one-day project is a coopera tive effort of Sampson Community College and BCC. About 10 students from Sampson Community College's horticulture technology program, their instruc tors and BCC physical plant em ployees will crect the superstructure. BCC employees have cleared and prepared the site behind the Brunswick Interagency Program building. Maintenance workers have prepared the foundation and cut, sized and drilled receptacle pipes, said Curtis Workman, physical plant director. Supplies for the project were purchased by BCC. At Sampson Community College, meanwhile, students in the Green house Operations class formed 130 sections of 1-inch electro-mechani cal tubing to specifications for the project. The formed conduit will arrive at BCC todav. with the SCC students, who have already assembled a simi lar structure on their campus. The BCC greenhouse will be used by the Brunswick Interagency Program for work experience train ing. New Ferry Contract Awarded An Alabama firm will build a new ferry vessel planned for the Southport-Fort Fisher Ferry across the Cape Fear River. The N.C. Board of Transportation Friday awarded a SI. 9 million con tract to Stciner Ship Yard Inc. of Bayou La Batre, Ala. The contract calls for building a vessel 150 feet long capable of transporting 34 ve hicles across the river between U.S. 421 at Fort Fisher in New Hanover County and Ferry Road (S.R. 1540) at Southport in Brunswick County. Board member Marilyn Williams, who represents Brunswick and New Hanover counties, said the project is expected to begin Jan. 4 and is scheduled to be completed in January 1994.
