Ted Stone Bringing Straight Talk About Drugs To Town Creek Baptist Church Ted Stone of Durham, a recov ered drug addict who has gained a national reputation as an inspira tional speaker and drug abuse pre vention counselor, will be at Town Creek Baptist Church near Win nabow March 18-21. Stone will speak Thursday through Sunday at 7:30 p.m. and at the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday, said the Rev. Vic Potter, pastor. Stone will also be working with youth groups and individuals during his stay. Stone is a graduate of Wake Forest University, where he was a cross country runner, and North Carolina Central University, where he earned a master's degree. He has also attended Duke University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Stone developed his "Enlighten ment Program," aimed at fighting drug abuse through education and inspiration, after his own experience with drugs. His addiction to amphet amines led to a personality change and ulumatcly to time in a private psychiatric hospital and prison. His focus is on delivering a factual pic ture of America's drug scene and as sisting listeners in preparing to make intelligent personal choices in regard to both legal and illegal drug use.
