media coordinator, a gift of $200 from the Katherine Hill Peed
Memorial Fund to purchase books about the coast for the media
collection.
Peed Memorial Fund Endows
Purchase Of Library Books
Proceeds from a fund established
in her memory are allowing Shal
lotte Middle School students to con
tinuing sharing the late Katherine
Hill Peed's love of the coast.
Last week Thomas Hill, Peed's
son, presented a check for $200 to
the Shallotte Middle School Library
from the Katherine Hill Peed Mem
orial Fund.
The fund was established upon
the death of Mrs. Peed on Nov. 1,
1991.
Mrs. Peed had taught for many
years at Shallotte Middle School. At
the lime of her death. Thomas and
her daughter Anna Katherine want
ed to remember Mrs. Peed in a spe
cial way. Because of her love for the
Brunswick County coast and her
special interest in fossils and sea
shells, they established the fund.
Monies from it are to be used for the
purchase of books about the ocean,
the coastal area and seashells.
Anyone who wishes to contribute
to the Katherine Hill Peed Memorial
Fund may do so at United Carolina
Bank, where Linda Walters adminis
ters the fund.
