Munroe-Whitman Wedding Held Mar. 26 In Whiteville llracc Ann Munroc and Gary I'aul Whitman of Whitcville were mar ried March 2b in a double-ring cere mony at the First Presbyterian Church m Whitcville. ITie bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs John Francis Munroc ot Whitcville The groom is the son of Mrs. John lewis Hum of Sum merville, SC.. and the late Paul Dean Whitman of Houston, Texas. The bride is a ll)X8 graduate of the Waccamaw Academy in Whitc ville. She attended Meredith College of Raleigh and is a 1*W graduate of N.C. State University with the de gree of bachelor of science in bio logical sciences. In 19SM she was presented by the Terpsichorean Club at its 63rd annual Debutante Ball in Raleigh. The groom is president of Whit Mart. Inc.. and is owner of Burger Kings in Whitcville, Shallottc. Fliz abcthtown and Clinton. Dr. Samuel Frisbic Rutland III of First Presby terian Church officiated. Music was provided b\ the Carolina Chamber Plavers. Dr. Jesse Caldwell Fisher Jr. of Whitcville was soloist. Bscorted by her father, the bride wore a gow n of candlelight import ed Thai silk The sweetheart neck was outlined with seed pearls. The sleeves were long and tapered, ac cented at the wrist with seed pearls. Che full skirt, which extended into a trapel train bordered by pearls, fell from a Basque waist which was also enhanced by seed pearls. Her sheer two-tier veil of imported French il lusion flowed from a beaded cap of pearls and iridescent beads. They wore candlelight silk organza blouses with three-quarter sleeves with bod ices enhanced by sweetheart neck lines with ribbon-beaded trim. S.C. Ring bearer was Chase Kdison Whitman of Whiteville, son of the groom. Acolytes were Jennifer Neil Crouch of Statesville, cousin of the bride, and Alexandria Lewis Robin son of Conway, S.C. Miss Crouch wore a Strasburg heirloom silk drop waist dress. Miss Robinson wore a Victoria's heirloom dress that tied at the waist. I lonorary bridesmaids were Susan Elizabeth Byrd of Greenville, S.C.; Mary Christine Byrd and Ana Maria Rafols of Cary: Dana Lisa Adams of Charlotte; Tracy Ellen Durham of C'arrboro; and Andrea Michel Ic Formyduval of Whiteville. Mrs. Julius Robert Smith of Whiteville directed the wedding. Mrs. Philip Henry Stoli II attended the register. A reception was given by the bride's parents at their home in Baldwin Woods. Following a wedding trip to Sea Island. Ga., the couple will make their home at Ocean Isle Beach. Pri-nuptial Parties A barbecue dinner dance was giv en after the rehearsal by the groom. The rehearsal ball was held at the Waccamaw Academy Kri.. Mar.25. A bridesmaid luncheon was given at the Grantham House on March 25 by Betsy McLamb of Raleigh and Mrs. Joseph McLamb of Goldsboro. SUNDAY APRIL 23 Simon Comedy To Be Staged For Annual Dinner Theatre Neil Simon's hit comedy, "The Slar-Spangled Girl," performed by the Alpha-Omega Players, will en tertain guests at the Southeastern Community College Foundation's annual dinner theatre on Sunday, April 23. The play is a comedy about two radical-chic intellectuals embroiled in a relationship with a super-patri otic girl. The title refers to an attrac tive girl of athletic prowess and proper patriotic principles who moves into a San Francisco apart ment and becomes a disturbing in fluence on a pair of young men who live across the hall. The Repertory Theater of Amer ica, Alpha-Omega players stages more performances annually than any similar organization in the coun try, according to an SCC news re lease. The company is made up of three touring units, each equipped to do three to four plays at any time. This year's dinner theatre honors Sol B. Mann of Whiteville. The evening begins with a reception at <> p.m., followed by a prime rib dinner and the performance of "The Star Spangled Girl." Tickets are S35. Twenty dollars of the ticket price is considered a tax-deductible contri bution. Proceeds from the dinner theatre help the SCC Foundation provide scholarships for needy students, pro fessional development for faculty and staff, and investments for future needs of the college and its students.
