Forgeries
A 36-year-old Calabash man was
sentenced to eight years in prison
last week after pleading guilty in
Brunswick County District Court to
one charge of breaking and entering
and three counts of common law
foigciy.
Dennis Gwendell Mines of Mar
lowtown Road was charged with six
counts of felony forgery and one
count of felonious breaking and en
tering. He agreed to plead guilty to
four misdemeanor charges as part of
a plea bargain in which two of the
forgery charges were voluntarily
dismissed.
Judge Jerry Jolly gave Hines four
consecutive two-year sentences. He
was given credit for 83 days he
spent in jail awaiting trial.
In three days of district court ac
tion last week. Jolly presided Tues
day and Wednesday, while Judge
David Wall heard cases Monday.
Other defendants who appeared in
court last week, with their charges
pleas and judgments include:
Paul Allen, probation violation,
remain on probation until he com
pletes 30 days in jail then transferred
to unsupervised probation, $2(X) at
torney fees within 15 days.
