He was born in Hamer. S.C., on March 11, 1920, a son of the late Jim and Suda Thompson Babson. He raised livestock and op erated a general store. Surviving are his wife. Jewell Clark Babson; three sons, Wilbert Lee Babson of Santa Rosa, Calif., Bob Glen Babson of Windsor, Calif., and Ronnie Mitchell Babson of Ash; two sisters. Char lie Smith. Burial was in Brunswick Memorial Gardens. RONALD DEAN PADGETI' SR. Ronald Dean "Ron" Padgett Sr., 46, of Albemarle Place, Leland, died April 23 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Mr. Padgett was born Sept. 8, 1947, in Millend, Ga., the son of the late Barney L. Padgett of Wilm ington. He was a member of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was employed as an in strumentation technician with the ADM Corporation. He was active in the Boy Scout program in the Cape Fear Area Council, having been an Eagle Scout, the Scoutmaster of Troop 226 of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, and many other areas of scouting. Survivors besides his father and stepmother, l^enora W. Padgett of Wilmington, include his wife, Vir ginia Juliene Metters Padgett of the home; a son.
