overall champions in the Sea Trail
Men's Golf Association's Meraber/
Guest Tournament last weekend.
The fourth annual tournament
was held Saturday and Sunday, with
a practice round Friday, on the Byrd
and Jones courses. The tournament
featured two full days of golf and
social events.
Fiigiii winners tor the 36- hole
tournament included Ray Wash am
and Scott Wash am in the A Flight
with 9 poinu.
John Murphy and Pat Murphy fin
ished at minus 4 points and captured
first place in the B Flight.
Winning the C Flight with 2
points were Bob Moore and Paul
Jordan. Bob Gallick and Dave
Brown won the D Flight with 7
points.
Saturday's winners were Don
Cooper and Mike Turner in the A
Flight with minus 2 points. Roger
Long and John McCasland placed
second with minus 5.
In the B Flight, John Gregory and
Dark) Orlando led the way with mi
nus S. Finishing second were John
Walker and Harry Clatterbuck, also
with minus 5.
Tony Martin and Bob Clancy led
the C Flight with 1 point. Herb
Holman and Bill Holman also fin
ished at plus 1.
D Flight winners were Doug
Mehne and Doug Mehuc with 9
points. Guy Moulton and Peter
Moulton placed second with 5
points.
Top finishers Sunday included
Ron Hayes and Cliff Errickson in
the A Flight with 1 point. Dick
Matheny and Pat Rapone placed
second with minus 3 points.
In the B Flight, Byron Peterson
and Donald Grow led the way with
1 point. Marv Peters and Gerry
Lupinski finished second with mi
nus 4.
Dick Zinser and Frank Woodruff
won the C Flight with 2 points.
Finishing second with 0 points were
Keith Curry and Audley Cragun.
Bob Erbach and Jim Quigley won
the D Right with 2 points. Rick
Redeker and David Riker took sec
ond with 1 point.
Closest-to-the-pin winners on
Saturday were Dave Williams at the
second hole. Jack Echard at the sev
enth, Dario Orlando at the 12th and
Augie Douglass at the 16th. Ray
Washam, Byron Wauters, Ron Sny
der and Doug Mehne were Sunday's
winners.
Hitting the longest drives were
Mike Cain on Saturday at the fifth
hole and Cliff Errickson Sunday at
iiic fiiM iioic. Rccognizcd for the
straightest drives were Pat Rapone
and John Ewart.
In the putting contest Saturday
night, Ray Dillon was tops in a field
of more than 55 golfers. John
McCasland placed second, and Jack
Cain finished third.
Skins Game winners included
Herb Klapp with a net 2 at the fourth
hole, Scott Washam with net 1 at the
seventh and Augie Douglass with

Brierwood Ladies
Alice Micali and June Cleasby
combined for a score of S3 and first
place finish in the Brierwood Ladies
Golf Association Member-Member
Tournament last Saturday.
Three teams tied for second place
in the best ball of the twosome event
with rounds of 56. They were Maije
Roach and Pat Wolff, Ginger Sugrue
and Elsie Rickbeil, and Marge
Harper and Helene Baker.
Hilda Hall and Jan Loflin shot 57
and tied for third place with the two
some of Sue McCann and Marion
Monaghan.
Gosest-to-the-pin winners were
Hall at the third hole. Roach at the
ninth. Nancy Bouldin at the 14th
and Sarah Lula at the 17th.
Longest drive winners were
Sugrue (0-28 handicap) at the 12lh
hole, Ruth Under (29-35 handicap)
at the 13th and Audrey Salmon (36
41 handicap) at the fourth.
Loflin had an eagle at the second
hole. Carding birdies were Sugrue at
the fourth and 14th, Roach at the
10th and 15th. Hall at the 16th and
18th, Pierrette Tompkins at the third.
Sara McCullough at the fourth, Irene
Bryant at the 14th, Micali at the 15th
and Rose Reiter and Ann Hierman
at the 17th.
In last Tuesday's Brierwood
Ladies Golf Association tourna
ment, Betty Gabor shot net 25.5 to
win Flight A. Golfers counted scores
on even-numbered holes on the front
nine and odd-numbered holes on the
back nine.
Runners-up in the top flight were
Ethel Brown with net 27.5 and
Bobbie Maples with 28. Maples also
had low putts in the flight with 28.
In Flight B, Irene Bryant led the
way with net 25.5. She was fol
lowed by Ann Causer with 27 and
Sara Lula with 28. Helene Baker
and Causer tied for low putts with
27 each.
Carolyn McCro&key won Flight C
with net 25. Ginnie Campbell was
second with 25.5, and Jane Flieg had
net VS. Kay Ouackenbush had low
putts with 25.
Esther Smith won Flight D with
net 26.5. Runners-up were Alice
Micali with 27 and Joanne LaWall
with 31. Martha Ware he im had lew
putts with 31.
Making chip-ins were Dot Crean
at the fourth hole, Tcni Kobos at the
eighth and Sue McCann at the 16th.

Ruth Brown carded a net 58 to
win the Ruth's Renegades tourna
ment last Thursday at Bay Tree's
green course.
Golfers dropped scored on their

Sally Manifold shot gross 86 and

first round of the Carolina Shores
Ladies Golf Association Queen Bee
Tournament last Thursday.
The second round of the 36- hole
event was scheduled today
(Thursday). Irene Crane had low
putts for the opening round with 29,
and Doerthe Needham had a chip-in
at the 12th bole.
Making birdies last week were
Ginnie Denickson at the second and
third holes, Betty Kibblehouse at the
third and 12th, Manifold and
Carolyn D'Avanzo at the eighth, Flo
Warren at the 12th and Dottie Russo
and Kathy Dcining at the 16th.
Brierwood Men
The team that included Joe Reiter,
Dick Anzelone and A1 Hierman took
first place in the Brierwood Men's
Golf Association tournament last
Thursday.
Teams counted the two best balls
on odd-numbered holes and three
best balls on even-numbered holes.
The winners had a 23-under-par
score of 160.
Finishing second at 22 under par
was the foursome of Don Redding, ?
Jack Akers, Charlie Stransky and
Jerry Wolff.
On June 20, the team of Reiter,
Bob Allwein, Wolff and George
Cleasby shot 154 to win the Brier
wood men's tournament.
Three teams tied for second place
with scores of 156. They were Neal
McCall, Mike Prokop, Andy Micali
and Hank Culp; Jim Roach,
Redding, John Cowie and Bill
Goldsberry; Jerry Lula, Akers, Bob
Sterner and Hierman.
Sea Trail Ladies
The team of Betty Halloran,
Eleanor Conboy, Joan Worley and
Carolyn Young shot 67 to win the
Sea Trail Ladies Golf Association
tournament last Wednesday on the
Bvrd course.
There was a four-way tie for sec
ond place in the captain's choice
event, which was settled on a match
of cards.
Pat Reid, Pat Swanekamp, Irene
Jones and Mary Yost tied for second
with Carole Patridge, Martie Tittle,
Marge Stokes and Carol Peters.
Sea Trail's nine-hole group com
peted for low putt honors. The team
of Patti Matheny and Flo RufT led
the way, followed by Jerri Moore
and a blind draw.
