COUNTRY FAIR at Seaside United Methodist Church, Sept. 2-3. Crafts, next
to-new clothing, plants, produce, household items and baked goods will be for
sale. "Gainesville" for children. Hot dogs, popcorn, crullers, peanuts and soft
drinks to be available. House are 3-8 p.m. Friday and 8-4 on Saturday. Spaghetti
dinner will be served Friday, 5-7; $4 tor adults, $2 for children. An auction of
household goods and yard sale items will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday. All proceeds
go to the church's capital improvement fund.
LABOR DAY ARTS AND CRA1-TS FAIR, Saturday, Sept. 3, 9 a m -5 p.m.,
at Middleton Park, Long Beach, sponsored by the Oak Island Arts Guild. Rate
date the next day, 10-5. Seventy-five exhibitors to include painters, potters, ce

BIRD ISLAND NATURE WALKS. Friday, Sept. 9. 5 p.m.; Tuesday, Sept 13,
8 a.m.; and Saturday, Sept. 24, 5 p.m. Meet at the 40th Street crossover. Sunset
Beach, for a guided tour sponsored by the Bird Island Preservation Society.
Wear sunscreen, as well as shoes and clothes appropr.c.e for wading. Tours take
place on public trust lands only.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK ISLANDS KING CLASSIC TOURNAMENT,
Sept. 15-17, with more than $100,000 in cash prizes. Holden Beach Marina is
tournament headquarters. Captains' meeting is Thursday at 2 p.m. Weigh-ins
will be Friday and Saturday from 2-5:30 p.m. Tournament prizes will be pre
sented Saturday at 7:30 at the marina. Entry fee will be $200 per boat through

FARM HERITAGE DAY Oct. 2 and Nature Day Day Oct. 9 at Indigo Farms,
Hickman's Crossroads. Farm Heritage day, 9 a.m. -5 p.m. features displays of
old farm implements, barnyard animals and fowl, pig races, mule demonstra
tion, tractor/wagon rides, 1930s hammer mill and an old sugar cane mill exhibit,
lectures on local history. Nature day, 9 a.m. -4 p.m. will include a wool-spinning
exhibit and lecture, bird and wildflower slide and lecture, doggers, herb exhibit
