This was for the Cham pionship of Alliance. The Wolfpack had lost an earlier con frontation with the Hawks. After trailing the Hawks 11-8 after one quarter, the Wolfpack came back strong to pull within one at the half, 28-27 off the board strenght of Danny Rice and out side shooting of Tommy Jones. From that point on it was a neck in neck race with David Tyndall and Steve Miller in keeping the Wolfpack up with the Hawks. After 3 quarters, the Hawks still led, 43-40. One main factor in the downfall of the Pack could have been the three technical fouls called on the Pack. The fourth quarter became the showdown as the Hawks took control with Cody Ushry leading the pace in a 21-point fourth quarter performance for the Hawks. The Wolfpack and Steve Miller could not defense the mat ter from then on as the Hawks claims Alliance championship with a 64-51 victory over the Pack. For the Wolfpack, David Tyndall led the scoring with 14 points. Steve Miller and Tommy Jones had 12 points each with Danny Rice canning 10 points. For the Hawks, Cody Ushry led the scoring pace with 13 points along with Ricky Latham’s 13 points. Player coach Gene Dudley was out but assistant Coach Ross Barrow was in. He took on one of the greatest battles this year How to cut the top ranked team down to size. This was one of those games that had an early ending. The Jets found themselves down 19-6 the first quarter and found playing catch up even harder. The Jets were without star guard, Gene Dudley. The Warriors were without Russell Jones, Zell Bryant or James Smith. Four of the Jets starters got into early foul trouble and had to play most of the game under caution. The Jets trailed 32-21 at the half. With 5:28 to go in the third quarter the Jets pulled within five, 54-49, before Bryon Greene put it out of reach after three 52-39. The Jets could not handle the fast breaks of the Warriors in the season’s finale as the War riors say, “We’re Number One,” in a 71-60 setback over the Bayboro Jets. For the Jets, Charles Smith led the scoring with 21 points. Claude Davis add ed 14 points and Chris Ushry put in 13 points. For the Warriors, they were lead by their “green chips” combination of Howard Greene with 25 points and Bryon Greene with 24 points.
