Saunders scored Donald Gibbs
who had singled. In the top of
the fourth Hubert Sawyer

with a two run homer. In the top
of the third Tony Sparrow. Larry
Monk singled and Gene Dudley

while Ray Gibbs tripled for a 2-3

Brvon Greene did the same but

ahead again. The O’s came back
in the bottom with a double by
Ray Greene. A solo homerun by
Jeff Bryan* added new life for
the O’s as they tied things up at
7-7. In the top of the 11th
inning. Curt Bell singled and
Roger Sawyer doubled giving
the Jets the upper hand again.
Again, the O's came back with
that needed hit off of Jeff Bryant
who doubled. A double by Ray
Greene tied things up once
again. In the top of the
twelfth, singles by Nehimaih
Woodard, Ross Barrow and
Tony Sparrow and David
Wethington. Two runs were
scored off of an error hit by
Larry Monk. In the bottom Ray
Greene doubled and Jeff Bryant

Jets upended the O's by a 10-8
margin.

Bayboro jumped out to three
runs in the first as Kitty
Whorton and Judy Stephenson
singled, Pam Morris doubled
and a homerun by Teresa Sorey.
In the top of the second, Patty
Starrick, Lana Toler singled and
Kitty Whorton doubled for six

again as Judy Stevenson singled
and Darlene Toler hit a homerun
to give Bayboro three more runs
and a 12-0 lead. In the bottom of
the sixth Reelsboro got singles
from Shirley Brinson and Janice
Ipock eliminating Reelsboro by
a score of 12-0.
The mighty Sea Gulls of
Oriental had not one blemished
mark on their record — thus far
a perfect season. The Goose
Creek Islanders on the other
hand had to hold off tough
rallies to ensure their victories.
The Sea Gulls were first to draw
blood as Vickie Spruill gave the
Gulls their first three runs with
a homerun scoring herself,
Darla Stevenson and Lulu
Swindell. In the top of the third,
the Islanders emerged with four
runs for a 4-3 lead. This was
mainly due to singles by Patsy
Rowe, and Sandra Banks, a
double by Brenda Lewis and a
triple by Brenda Mason. The
Sea Gulls wasted little time in
the third as Darla Stevenson
singled and triples by Ellen
Everette and Lulu Swindell. San
Smith scored a run off of a
fielder’s choice. In the bottom of
the fifth, the Sea Gulls
continued their inarch with
singles coming from Vickie
Spruill and Ellen Everette.
Janice Shorey and Donna
Stevenson each scored runs off
of error hits. The Islanders used
the top of the sixth to come on
with singles from Patsy Rowe,
Cathy Lewis and Anna JM.
Lozica for three mns and a 7-10
deficit. The Sea Gulls used a
sacrifice fly by Darla Stevenson
to score Teresa Price for another
run. The Islanders obtained one
more run in the seventh with
Belinda Mason and Irene
Ballance both singling with
Teresa Potter scoring a run off a
fielder's choice. The final
margin was 11-8. The winning
pitcher was Linda Sawyer while
Patsy Rowe was credited with
the loss.
Both the Sea Gulls and the
Islanders were having trouble
lately. This time the Sea Gulls
had their good luck charm with
them — the women Sea Gulls
players to root them on. The
Islanders had yet to win a game
the entire season and figured
this would be as good as time as
any. The Sea Gulls got two runs
in the first as Hamp Spruill and
Wayne Walters and Johnny
Cowell each singled followed by
another single by Johnny
Shields and double by Sam
Spencer. The Islanders came
back in the first to go ahead 4-2
with singles coming from Alby
Henries and Jerry Sykes. Larry
Ballance let go with a homerun.
In the top of the second, singles
by Ray Tingle, Johnny Shields
and Warren Spruill along with a
double by Cliff Daniels for one
run. In the top of the third
singles by Sam Spencer, John
Cowell and Bobby Prescott
added another run to tie the
score at 4-4. In the bottom the
Islanders attempted to put the
game out of reach in the third
with a single by Albin Henries,
a triple by Jerry Sykes and a
homerun by Craig Hammond.
At this point the Islanders lead
