Oriental merchants, citizens and churches will be putting out the red carpet on Saturday, December 13 from 5 to 9 pm. The town streets will be lighted with luminiaries, illuminating The Sheriffs Report The Pamlico County Sheriffs Department reports making the following arrests recently: Possess malt beverage on school grounds, 1; DWI, 1; Assault, 3; Safe movement violation, 1; Breaking and entering and larceny, 1; Injure personal pro perty, 1; Resist arrest, 1; Com municating threats, 1; Injure pro perty, l; Trespass, 1; Discharge firearm into an occupied building, 1; and Nonsupport, 1. The following complaints were received: On November 27, Scotty Whit ford reported that someone entered the Grantsboro workshop of Malcolm Whitford and, using a screwdriver from the workbench, forced open the door to the office and took between $35 and $40. On November 25, Vera A. Parker of Whortonsville reported that someone entered her house and took a wedding ring with set tings for five diamonds, three of which were missing, valued at $500, a diamond dinner ring valued at $500 and two diamond rings valued at a total of $1,000. On November 29, Lewis Debose of Mesic reported that his house was entered and a nine-inch television and four rods and reels removed. No estimate of their value was noted on the report. On November 29, David Bell of Rt. 1 Grantsboro reported his 1981 Chevette missing from his driveway. It was later found stuck in a ditch about a half mile from his house. Spirit of Christmas In Oriental. Shops, businesses, restaurants, and churches will be open during the event, showing off all the Christmas festivities they can of fer. Visitors can shop or just visit in the shops, while sampling the Yuletide offerings. For some quiet time, or jovial carolings, churches will be open. The Oriental Pentecostal Holiness Church will be performing its annual Christmas program. Visitors will be asked to stop in at the Oriental Town Hall for a schedule of events. Santa Claus will also be stopping in at the town hall and will listen to children’s wishes. The Pelican Players will be per forming a Live Christmas Nativi ty next to Oriental Realty, com plete with animals. Several per formances are scheduled so that all may enjoy this special presen tation. A children’s choir from the Oriental United Methodist Church will kick off the event at 5:00 with a performance of Christmas carols at the First Citizens Bank. The Bethany Christian Church Bell Choir will be performing several times throughout the evening at the Old Hotel on the corner of Broad and Hodges Streets. A special part of the evening will be the decorated boats which will be lining the Oriental Harbor, illuminating the surroundings with a rainbow of color. The Oriental Woman’s Club will be sponsoring a residential door way decorating contest with a prize presented for the best door way. And so, for the most in sights, sounds, smells and flavors of Christmas, plan to attend The Spirit of Christmas In Oriental. *Make Your Holiday Easy91 Workshop The Beaufort County Agricultural Extension Service will hold programs in different areas of the county entitled “Make Your Holidays Easy.” The program will cover elegant and easy entertaining ideas in the area of foods, table decorations and gift wraps. “Make Your Holidays Easy” will be held in Aurora on December 10, beginning at 1:00 pm, at the Aurora Community Center.
