MISSIONARY SOCIETY MEETS
WITH MRS. G. W. ALEXANDER
The Woman's Missionary Society of
the Woodville Baptist Church held its
regular monthly meeting on Tuesday,
May 14, at the home of Mrs. G. W
Alexander.
. The meeting was opened by singing
"The Touch of His Hand on Mine."
Prayer was offered by the pastor,
Rev. J. 0. Murphy, followed by the
hymn, "What a Friend We Have in
Jesus." After the business was dis
cussed, the following program wai
given:
A very interesting talk was given
by Rev. Mr. Murphy on Chowan Col
lege. ' "
Mrs. M. R. Griffin led the devo
tional.
The topic of the program was
Lifting the Banner of the Cross
through Healing."
Mrs. Johnnie Bray gave a very in
teresting talk on "Healing in Other
Lands' v
Mrs. H. C. West gave a talk on
"The Ministry of Healing."
Mrs. Henry Sawyers talk was on
'The Baptist Memorial Hospital."
Mrs. ;J C Wilson gave a talk on
"Liftinjr the Banner of the Cross
Throusrh Hosnitals.". '
Mrs.. Mary Bray gave the last talk,
it being'The Need of Hospitals."
The next meetlnir . will be held at
the home of Mrs. M. R. Griffin.
The. meeting closed with a prayer
by Mrs. Wilson.

The Woman's Missionary Union of
Piney Woods Church met Saturday
afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, at the home
of Mrs. Sarah Layden with Mrs. J.
M. Copeland as assistant hostess. The
meeting was opened by singing,
Sweet Hour of Prayer." Mrs. Sarah
Layden gave the devotional At roll

on widows and wives. The lesson was
