THIS WEEK'S BIBLE THOUGHT RESTORE THE ERRING: Breth ren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; con sidering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Galatians 6:1. COUNTY'S UNFORTUNATES IN GOOD HANDS The folks at the County Home are in good hands for at least one more year. Simon Stallings was appointed as keeper of the County Home by the Board of County Commissioners on Monday. For thirty-five years Mr. Stallings has kept the County Home in Per quimans. He has made a fine record. The unfortunates of Perquimans who, for one reason or another, during these last thirty-five years, have been ! reduced to circumstances which led! to the poor house, were fortunate in at least one respect. They have been nnder the care of a good keeper. LIFE'S DYVAYS 0? no : no: mrr 7xz a? . 296 papers. But Haftnodio Arias, President of Panama, sent 250 pounds of Panamanian silver dollars to bail his friend Rounsvell out. MRS. GRIFFIN'S STATEMENT IS NOT DISPUTED The statement of Mrs. C. W. Grif fin that the proposed paved road from the village of New Hope into Dur ants Neck is a county project and not a neighborhood one is hardly to be disputed. The picture of a community of 'the size of Durants Neck, peopled with the type of citizen which it is, being cut off from the advantages when Other taxpayers of the county receive because of the condition of the roads which frequently become impassable during the winter months, is not a pleasant one. It is not a condition which ought to exist. Not only are the residents of Dur ants Neck deprived of the privilege of getting out to the county seat to transact necessary business, to mar ket produce, to attend church and school, but sometimes it is next to impossible to get the services of a physician. As bad as this situation is, if this were the only aspect to be consider ed, the project might be said to be a neighborhood or a community affair. But apart from the advantages that the residents of this community would receive from the hard surfac ing of this road, other county inter ests, including the business interests of the Town of Hertford, would be served. These prosperous farmers of Durants Neck are valuable customers of Hertford merchants. Yes, the project is decidedly a county project and not a neighbor hood one. Profane To Sacred New York City. David Belasco, famous Jewish theatrical producer, always wore a priest's reversed col lar. In his studio atop the Belasco Theatre, he had a telephone booth modeled after a confessional in a Spanish church. C- Robert Morris, a real estate man, bought it at an auc tion after the producer's death in 1931. The Rev. George W. Knight bought it from Morris for $30, in stalled it in his All Saints Episcopal Church. It now echoes non-telephonic confessions. Like Man, Like Dog London, England A the second International Neurological Congress in London, scientific savants flocked around a wiry, bearded little Russian. Ivan Petrovitch Pavlov, discoverer of the conditioned reflex which is the keystone of modern psychology, told the 600 delegates of his 60 year ex perimentation with dogs. Like hu mans, he concluded that canines fall into four temperamental classes: choleric, phlegmatic, sanguine and melancholy. Other neurologists read Depression's Biggest Upswing , New York CityIn 'its August bulletin the National ' City 'Bank of New York City cheerfully, states: "Private enterprise is on the rise in greater degree than in previous up-, swings in this depression." Statis ticians had compared profits of 260 industrial corporations for the first half of this year with earnings for 1934's first half. ; Results: Combined net profits, less deficits, increased 17.9 per cent from $265,000,000 to $313,000,000. "Never has entertainment, hospi tality and recreation been so focused as now within the home. I am sure that we are starting an era of new prosperity, based upon home enjoy ment rather than upon the orgy of speculation which characterized our last business advance," says Howard E.
