W. A. Of Bethel Has Regular Meet The regular monthly meeting of the Y. W. A. of Bethel Baptist Church was held at the church on Thursday evening. In the absence of the president, the vice president, Miss Pensie Ward, presided. Personal service was discussed. A very interesting program was given, with Misses Esther Ward and Kath ryne Fleetwood taking part. The April meeting will be held in the home of the councilor, Mrs. W. P. Long. Those present were: Misses Addie Mae "Ward, Kathryne Fleetwood, Pensie Ward, and Esther Ward; O- C. Long, Jr., William Hobbs, Josiah Proctor and Mrs. W. P. Long. MISS HUDSON IMPROVING Miss Mary Tudor Hudson, formerly of Hertford, but now a resident of Norfolk, V., underwent an operation for appendicitis at the Protestant Hospital, Norfolk, Va., on Thursday of last week. Wilson Resigns As Active President It became known this week that . W. Wilson has resigned as presi dent of the Hollowell Chevrolet Com pany of Hertford, his resignation to take place immediately. Mr. Wilson told a representative of this newspaper that he would still retain an interest in the business, but that he would no longer be ac tive in the organization. Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Winslow, of Bagley's Swamp, had as guests on SundaMr. and Mrs. A. F. Jordan and their son, Ray, of Hertford: Mr. and Mrs. George Carver and family, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Gregory and son; Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Chappell and daughter, Hilda, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Dail, all of Belvidere. The gun which Helen Stamps, Texas Exposition Rangerette, holds, is from the collection of A. W. Discher, of' Dallas. Eighteen notches on its stock ; attest to its efficiency in forntier In- dian fighting. This, an 1827 Spencer . Indian and Buffalo gun, and others from the Discher collection will be displayed during the Exposition which opens in Dallas June 6.
