Elliott spent last week at Bethel, Pitt County, visiting her daughter, Mrs. S. F. Pollard. Mrs. J. W. Darden is spending the week at Driver, Va., where she is the guest of relatives. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Futrell and their son, Richard, Jr., of Rich Square, visited Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Elliott and Mrs. M. S. Elliott on Sunday and Monday. the past week, is on the road to re covery. Eva Anne and Joe, two children of Mr.' and Mrs. J. L. Tucker, of Hert ford, who have been ill for the past week with pneumonia, are showing signs of improvement. Demonstration Club Has Meeting The Whiteston Home Demonstra tion Club met at the' home of Mrs. Leonidas Lane Thursday afternoon. Due to the absence of the president, Mrs. Arba Winslow, Mrs. Dempsey Winslow presided over the meetine. Miss Lucille Lane led the devotional, after which the minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. During the business session the fol lowing officers were elected: Foods and Nutrition, Miss Johnnie White; Clothing, Miss Lena Winslow; House Furnishing, Mrs. Lucius Winslow; Home Beautification, Mrs. J. T. Lane; Home Garden, Mrs. J. D. Winslow; Home Poultry, Mrs. Roy Winslow; Home Dairy, Mrs. Mercer Winslow; Child Development, Mrs. Dempsey Winslow. W. Dimmette as hostess. Mrs. J. L. Nixon president, presided Mrs J. L. DeLanev led the devotional. A very interesting pro gram was given by the program committee. Mrs. J. W. Dimmette was elected delegate-at-large to the annual con ference to be held in Durham. Mrs. Ellis Miller was elected as delegate to the Zone meeting to be held in Hertford on March 17. The Society will entertain the Young People's Circle at the church next month. Mrs. J. W. Dimmette dismissed the meeting. (Hot chocolate and wafers were served by the hostess. Mrs. W. F. Morgan, Mr. and Mrs. William Morgan and Mrs. Ellie Rid dick, of Hertford, spent Sunday in Durham with Mrs. Byrd (formerly Miss Sarah Morgan) who is very ill.
