Isaiah 40:3. COME UP TO SEE US SOMETIME It seems to be a good time to send out invitations to all our neighbors to come over to Hertford and take a look around. Time was when our neighbors were few. The automobile and the good roads have changed all that They have widened our horizon, so to speak, have broadened our neighbor hood to take in a great deal more territory, and those who live fifty miles away are closer to us than were our old neighbors who lived only five or six miles distant a few years ago. It took a horse about an hour to drive eight or ten miles. So that the folks who live in Cho wan, in Gates and in Pasquotank are now really our very close neighbors. They can and do come over to see us often, running in for a visit in the afternoon and returning home before night More and more are people from the outlying sections adjoining Per quimans coming to Hertford to shop, as they realize that the stores of Hertford are on a par with the stores of large towns and cities, and that because of the difference in the over head expense of the city merchant and the small town merchant, the prices here in many cases are lower. With the opening of the State, Hertford's fine new theatre, already more people are being drawn to our town, which is very gratifying, and we look forward to an increase in the number of visitors from a dis tance. The special sales which the stores in Hertford are advertising just now, wiin Bargains in practically every thing one needs, should induce many others to come to Hertford. And so the invitation is given to you, our neighbors who haven t yet accquired the habit of shopping here to come over also. You will want to visit our fine, new .theatre 'and you will want to visit our stores and see for yourselves what Hertford has to offer. Come overt Joint Hostesses In Honor Recent Bride Mrs. N. 0.
