Some Worth While
Hints To Farmers
By L. W. ANDERSON
Repair and Paint Farm Machine
The weather for the past several
weeks has made outside work almost
impossible., but it, provides a good
opportunity for fanners to check, up
On their farm machinery and make
necessary repairs, before the busy
season begins. - Now la a good time
to replace those' worn out bolts in
the plows, have plow points sharp
ened, grease the leather harness and
paint the plows and other farm ma
chinery. Some farmers paint all ot
their farm equipment the same color.
This makes the equipment more easi
ly identified as well as preserving it
Adopt a color for your farm tools
and paint all of them the same color
and keep them painted.
Check over your planting seed and
see if you think they are the type
and kind to give you a good crop in
1937. If you are not sure about the.
germination of your seed, have them
tested. If you will send samples to
the State Seed Laboratory, Depart
ment of Agriculture, Raleigh, they
will give you a report on your seed
free of charge. Possibly your water
pump needs a new leather valve.
There is always plenty of work to
do around the farm, '.even in rainy
weather. Now is a good time to
check over your farm stock and see
what is needed. It will save . time
later when you are too busy to at
tend to things of this kind.
