R. Keaton. Miss Pensie Ward has returned home after a visit of a few days with Mrs. Fred Matthews near Hert ford. " Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Proctor and children, visited Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Proctor near Yeopim station Sun day afternoon. " Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Reed and son of near Hertford visited Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Ward Sunday. Misses Lucile Long and Alma Leg- gett of Winfall and Lorna Brothers of Hertford were the dinner guests Sunday of Miss Longs parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Long. Miss Alberta Hollowell of Ballahacfc spent the week-end with her grand mother, Mrs. W. C. Perry. Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Mansfield and daughters, Margaret Ann, and Helen, of Edenton, visited at the home of his father, J. H. Mansfield, Sunday. BURGESS NEWS Mrs. J. B. W. Mayes made an inter esting talk on the religion of Spain as a feature of the program. After the meeting the hostess serv ed a salad course during the social hour. Those present were Mesdames E. W. Mayes, Robert White, Lena Gre gory, Irvin White, G. C. Buck, Tom Perry, R. S. Jordan, Matt Mathews, T. W. Perry and J. E. Everett. VISITING CHILDREN Mrs. John Chalk left Thursday to visit her daughter, Miss Louise Chalk, in Charlotte, her son, Rich ard Chalk, at Statesville, and an other son, Clarence, at High Point, Mrs. Chalk expects to be away about a week. CIRCLE THREE MEETS Circle No. 3 of the Woman's Mis sionary Society of the Hertford Baptist Church met on Monday night at the home of Miss Helen Morgan, with the chairman, Mrs. V. N. Dar den, conducting the devotional exer cises. Interesting readings were given by Mrs. Carlton Cannon, Mrs. L. N. Hollowell, Miss Helen Morgan, Mrs. B. C. Berry and Mrs. J. E. White. Mrs. I. A. Ward, president of the W. M. U., made a brief talk. Following the business session there was a social hour, when the hostess served a dainty sweet course. Those present were Mesdames V. N. Darden, L. N. Hollowell, C. R. Holmes, I. A. Ward, Carlton Cannon, T. L. Jessup, J. W. Ward, John Zach ery, G. R. Tucker, J. E. White and B. C. Berry. This Circle meets in April with Mrs. T. L. Jessup. BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT Born to Mr. and Mrs .Irvin Jordan of the Pender Road section, a son, on March 12, at the home of Mrs. Jordan's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Lillie. MR. WARD IN RALEIGH J. W. Ward is spending Thursday and Friday in Raleigh, where he will attend the meeting of tax supervisors and receive instruction in connection with his duties. VISITING PARENTS Miss Gladys Hamrick, home de monstration agent of Perquimans, is spending the Easter holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hamrick, at Kings Mountain. She will return home on Monday.
