The songs are assured hits. Eleanor Powell and Murphy have a number "I'm Feeling Like a Million," which imparts that sensation to the au dience. Gorin sings "Sun Showers" and Taylor joins Miss Powell in SPORT NEWS OF PERQUIMANS H. S. By DOX DIXON The Perquimans football team will play Rich Square this afternoon in an attempt to put themselves in the winning column again. The team has not won a game in three years, but a hopeful and ambitious squad will go on the field in an effort to redeem its past record. Rich Square, having won a game from Roanoke Rapids, is looking for a victory over the local boys. It was rumored at the beginning of school that there would be no foot ball at P. C. H. S. this year, but up on the arrival of Bob Bates, the new coach, the rumor changed from that to one of maybe a winning team. The '37 edition of the Indians will be the heaviest and fastest in three years. The team's weight will aver age between 150 and 155 pounds. The center will probably be Bill Fields, a veteran of three years of defeat, who with many other boys, is determined to win. The line will probably come from these boys: Paul Tucker, Zach Harris, Percy "Toar" Byrum, Charles White, Richard Spiv ey, Watt Winslow, David Broughton, and Billy Arnold. All of these boys except Spivey and Arnold have had a year's experience. The backfield will probably be Fred Campen at fullback, Rex Gault and Mac White playing halfback, and Dox Nixon at quater back. Gault will do most ofthe passing, while Nixon will do the ma jority of the kicking. A definite schedule has not yet l;eo!i arranged, but the Indians will probably play . three or four more ganer,, having already contacted Providence Hi';h, Norfolk, Va., and Columbia High, which will be played on the home field. Superintendent F. T. Johnson, of Perquimans schools, announced today that he had received free tickets to the North Carolina State Fair to be held in Raleigh October 12-16 for distribution to all of Perquimans' County's 1,200 children in the public! schools. He will distribute the tick-; ets next week. On each complimentary ticket is a; personal invitation from Governor' Hoey for all of the State's school I children to attend the fair on Friday, October 15, the day set aside espec ially for Tar Heel youngsters. There are no strings attached to the offer, and the youngsters may attend the fair with or without their teachers. Governor Hoey has joined Dr. J. S. Dorton, of Shelby, manager of the State exposition, in expressing the urgent hope that as many children as possible take advantage of the free visit to their fair. "No fair is complete unless children have an opportunity to see the ex hibits and enjoy the entertainment features," declared Manager Dorton. "For that reason we are making it possible for every boy and girl in North Carolina to be special guests at the fair. We want to see the midway full of youngsters on Friday j of fair week." In addition to the imposing array j of agricultural exhibits, the children will find much to entertain them. ' The gigantic World of Mirth, with 22 1 high class shows and IX novelty rides, will be on the midway. Fifteen thrilling hippodrome acts will be pre- i sented in the grandstand arena in the afternoon and niht, and each evening "The Revue of Tomorrow," sparkling musical comedy, will give a colorful program, topped by a brii-! liant display of fireworks.
