Broughton was re elected president of the Parent Teacher Association of the Hertford Grammar School at the meeting held on Friday afternoon, with Mrs. G. R. Tucker vice president; Miss Mary Sumner, secretary, and Mrs. Dur wood Reed, treasurer. Cnairmen of the standing commit tees were named as follows: Program, Mrs. Lindsey Winslow; Hospitality, Mrs. J. W. Zachery, Mrs. C. A. Davenport and Mrs. S. P. Jessup; Membership, Mrs. Carlton Cannon, Mrs. G. R. Tucker and Mrs. W. F. Madre, Jr.; Publicity, Mrs. J. E. . Morris end Mrs. Tom Perry; (Nation al Parent-Teacher Magazine, Mrs. Irvin White; Welfare, Mrs. T. E. Madre; Ways and Means, Mrs. Chas. Skinner, Mrs. W. H. Pitt and Mrs. Oscar Felton. Among the objectives of the P.-T. A. as announced at this meeting are a basketball court on the playground to take the place of swings, and to secure new maps for the class rooms, and to plant shrubbery on the grounds. Another objective is to in crease interest and membership in organization. The grade mothers, who work in cooperation with the teachers in the interest of the grades, are as follows: First Grade, Mrs. T. E. Madre, Mrs. Jimmie Assad, Mrs. T. W. Tilley And Mrs. C. A. Davenport; Second Grade, Mrs. Everett Babb, Mm. W. M. Landing and Mrs. Seth Long; Third Grade, Mrs. Tom Perry, Mrs. James Sawyer and Mrs. Charlie Elliott; Fourth Grade, Mrs. W. N. Tucker, Mrs. W. E. Rogerson, Mrs. V. L. Proctor and Mrs. Dan Reed; Fifth Grade, Mrs. Milton Dail, Mrs. Jake White, Mrs. J. A. Gault and Mrs. E. A. Byrum; Sixth Grade, Mrs. C. F. Reed, Mrs. W. F. Madre, Jr., Mrs. M. T. Griffin; Seventh Grade, Mrs. Elmer Proctor, Mrsv, Fred Mathews, Mrs. J. M. Fleetwood and Mrs. Ray mond Skinner. The Parent-Teacher Association got off to a good start at this first meeting of the year, which opened with the singing of "America" by the group, followed by repeating a Psalm. Mrs. C. T. Skinner made a brief but interesting talk on "Why Par ents Visit the School," after which Mrs. Broughton, the president, gave a comprehensive report of the Dis trict Meeting held recently at Cen tral High School. A group of girls from the Seventh Grade contributed an entertainment number, followed by the business ses sion, during which Miss Mary Sum ner, the principal, urged the parents to watch the health of their children, and if possible see that their eyes were in good condition. Parents were also urged to attend the Parent Teacher meetings regularly. A committee was named to appear before the Board of Education and request that something be done about the walks on each side of the build ing. These walks, where children get in line to march into the building, are unpaved and in bad condition. At the end of that on the west eide the county buses load and unload and it is believed that it is particu larly necessary that something be done to improve the condition.
