There will be prizes, contests and fun galore, with a. month's pass to the theatre given for. the tackiest costume worn by a patron. The festivities begin at 11:30 and the public is invited to "come pre pared for anything." It's crazy! And don't make the-mistake of think ing it's only for . the children; the usher may have you get him a seat instead of ushering you to onethe cashier may refund your money or give you. a present when you pur chase your ticket. "Let yourself go for one night, let down the bars and relax if you've a skeleton in the closet bring him too, he'll be right at home." And please, requests the management, "dress as insanely as possible." Featured on the screen are Lew Ayers and Mary Carlisle in "Hold 'Em Navy," plus the usual array of short subjects. "And, remember," j warns Manager Littleton Gibbs, "anything can happen." Mt. Sinai Society Meets With MrjH.D. Hurdle The Woman's Missionary Society of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church met on Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. H. D. Hurdle. The president, Mrs. T. E. Madre, led the devotional, and Mrs. B. F. Jordan led in prayer. Mrs. E. U. Morgan was in charge of a very in teresting program with the following members taking part: Mesdames B. F. Jordan, E. C. Hollowell, Junior Miller, Warner Madre, T. E. Morgan, Effie Miller and George Roach. Plans were made to have the Mission Study Class held at the church next month. Delicious ice cream and cake was served Mesdames E. U. Morgan, Arthur Pearce, C. A. Bagley, J. V. Stallings, B. F. Jordan, David Miller, E. C. Hollowell, Junior Miller, Har vey Stallings, Warner Madre, H. D. Hurdle, T. E. Morgan, T. E. Madre, B. M. Jpnes, Effie Miller, and George Roach, Misses Mamie Stallings ana Celesta Godwin, and Mrs. Garland Baker, a visitor. The next meeting will be held at the church in November. Mrs. Winslow Hostess To Belvidere dub The Belvidere Home Demonstra tion Club held its regular meeting Wednesday afternoon, October 20, at the home of the president, Mrs. L. J. Winslow. The meeting: was ope ed with the "Homemakers' Song," after which the Collect was repeated The devotional was conducted by Mrs. B. W. , Copeland. Interesting questions and answers on style wet presented by Miss Gladys Hamrick, home agent. She also discussed ac cessories and remodeling. W. Anderson; farm agent, came in for their share of interest, and that 21 different kinds of products , were represented in the display of-canned goods furnished by the home demob stration clubs of the county,' was in teresting even to the home folks.. . The travelers, who were guests ot the Governors Hospitality . Commit tee, and who were be'ag shown the interesting points of State ot North Carolina as a part of the pro gram to advertise the State,-had vis ited practically the entire State be fore they made the stop in Hertford, Mving stopped t,some ,68 points .oi They reached Hertford at 9:, having been met at WinfaQ by Sher iff J. E. Winslow and a party of others who escorted the visitors to the Courthouse. They were received by Mayor Silas M. Whedbee and other town and county officials. En tering the Courthouse, they were re quested to be seated, when the Mayot spoke a few cordial words t of wel come and introduced his father, Hon. Charles Whedbee. , Mr. Whed bee gave a brief but comprehensive outline of the history of Perquimans. And though Mr. Whedbee remarked facetiously that it was difitarlt to cover 800 years of history fn ten minutes, he managed to do Just that and to do it most interestingly. Following this a group of women headed by Mrs. J. G. Roberson, pres ident of the -Woman's Club, and in cluding Mesdames T. S. White, J. O. Felton, Durward Reed, Thomas Nixon, Rosser Brinn, S. M. Whedbee, Walter H. Oakey, Jr., J. W. Ward, J. J. Fleetwood, and Misses Mae Wood Winslow, Gladys ' Hamrick, Fannie Mae Coffield, Gladys Wara and Spivey Roberosn, served the re freshments, the guests mingling in friendly fashion with the county folks, viewing the exhibits. Picture post cards of Hertford, presented by J. G. Roberson, Hert ford druggist, were passed among the visitors who were told the cards would be stamped and mailed if they cared to send them out. Many took the advantage of dropping a line to friends in this wav.
