UNDERGOES APPENDECTOMY
Miss Nellie Butler, a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Butler, was ad
mitted to the Albemarle Hospital in
Elizabeth City on Saturday and un
derwent an operation for appendicitics
Saturday night. At last reports Miss
Butler was convalescing nicely and
is expected to return to her home
on Monday.
MISSIONARY SOCIETY MEETS
The Woman's Missionary Society of
Mt. Sinai Church met last Tuesday
afternoon with Mrs. E. U. Morgan, at
her home near Cumberland. The
opening hymn, "The Morning Light
Is Breaking," was followed by the
Lord's Prayer repeated in unison.
Mrs. T. E. Madre, president, led the
devotional.
Mrs. E. C. Hollowell was in charge
of the program with the following
ladies taking part: Mrs. Hollowell,
Mrs. Alvah Madre, Mrs. Arthur
Pierce, Mrs. Junior Miller, Mrs. Effie
Miller and Miss Celesta Godwin.
Mrs. J. F. Stegall, of Hertford,
gave a very interesting talk.
The Society will meet at the church
in July.
The hostess served delicious ice
cream and cake.
