We're sorry, of course, but the truth of the matter is, we didn't know she had been on a trip. Our telephone number is still 88, when we pay the phone bill, and the society editor is on duty all day every Tuesday and Wednesday. The offended lady could have helped us avoid the omission simply by giving the office a ring. It's no easy job to ferret out every item of interest without cooperation from the people who make news. The Perquimans Weekly is anxious to print every one of our happenings of local interest. We do not attempt to cover national spot news the big dailies take care of that but it is our intention to publish Hertford and Perquimans County news. How about1 a little cooperation from the towns people ? A voice over the telephone sum moned Officer C. E. Walker Thursday morning to come to Market Street. "There's a big wreck in front of my house," the officer understood the voice to say. Gathering all the speed at his command, Mr. Walker hastened to the scene, picturing a catastrophe of cata clysmic proportions; dead, drying and injured littering the street amid the wreckage of a major auto accident. He found death thero, nut it was a big dead rat. That's what the voice, Mrs. E. T. Jillson's had said: "There's a big rat in front of my house," not wreck.
