Woman's Club Holds First Meeting Of Fall Mrs. I. A. Ward had charge of the program at the meeting of the Hert ford Woman's Club on Thursday af ternoon, when the club met for the first time since the summer vacation. One of the most important matters of business up for discussion was that of the upbuilding of the Wom an's Club Public Library which has served the community for Ihe past year, filling a long-felt need among those who enjoy good books. Plans were also completed for the attendance of the local club members at this District meeting to be held in Elizabeth City on November 11. The delegates to the meeting include the club officers, Mrs. J. G. Roberson, president; Mrs. I. A. Ward, vioe president; Mrs. C. P. Morris, secre tary, and Mrs. J. J. Fleetwood, treasurer. County Officers Favor Term Change (Continued From Page One) year terms of office for the sheriffs and coroners of North Carolina. Already the clerks of Superior Court and the registers of deeds are elected for four years, and I can see no reason why this same provision should not apply to the sheriffs and coroners. I believe it will make for efficiency in public service," the Gov ernor stated. Senator Larkins said he has re ceived a number of endorsements of the amendment from solicitors, judges, business men of the State, congressmen and State representa tives. It is thought that Sheriff J. Em- mett Winslow also favors the four year term. CIRCLE MEETS MONDAY Circle No. 3 of the Hertford Bap tist Church will meet Monday even ing at 8 o'clock, with Mrs. V. N.
