Application Easily Made
. For ' Extension , or
; Compromise '
C. Pool White; of Elizabeth City,
who was recently appointed a member
of the Conciliation Commission, was
in Hertford Tuesday, and while here
expressed doubt as to1 farmers being
acquainted with Section ; 75 of the
bankruptcy act whereby they can se
cure 'relief" of debts which they are
unable to pay at the present time. '
In explaining the act, Mr. White
said farmers can petition through the
Federal court for an extension or
compromise of indebtedness in cases
where creditors threaten to foreclose.
Many farmers have taken advantage
of this law, but on the whole Mr,
White says, little is known about the
relief afforded, saying he would
gladly furnish any information neces
sary at his office in Elizabeth City.
