HOSTESS AT BRIDGE Miss Mary Towe charmingly enter tained a number of friends at bridge last Wednesday evening at her home on Church Street. Those playing were Misses Blanche Everett, Helene Nixon, Jocelyn Whedbee, Ruth Dav enport, Mrs. Joe Towe, Mrs. Agnes Williams, and Mrs. J. M. Eason, of Crewe, Va. High score prize was awarded to Miss Davenport, with Miss Nixon receiving second high score prize. Mrs. Eason was pre sented a guest prize. A dainty sandwich course was served. ENTERTAINS BRIDGE CLUB Mrs. Charles Williford was hostess to her bridge club at a beautifully arranged party at her home on Dobb Street last Friday evening. Mrs. Williford's guests included Mes d.ames Charles E. Johnson, C. R. Holmes, G. W. Barbee, H. C. Stokes, and Tommy Jessup, Misses Blanche Everett and Mary Sumner. High score prize was awarded Mrs. Stokes, who also received the floating prize, while Miss Everett received low score prize. A salad course was served. AGAIN JOINS THE ARMY John Everett, son of Iftr. and Mrs. J. E. Everett, who has been visiting his parents here, left Tuesday for New York to re-enlist in the U. S. Army. 'He expects to be in training in New York for a month or more. (WINFALL P. T. A. MEETS The Parent-Teacher Association of Perquimans Central Grammar School met in the school building at Winfall on Monday evening and enjoyed a most interesting program conducted by Mrs. F. C.- White. The program rendered was as follows: Art in Our School, Aileen Yeates; Picture Study of Hitchcock's Flower Girl in Holland was given by Pau line Smith, and Dorothy Faye White posed. W. Frith Winslow, of Plymouth, formerly of Winfall and Hertford, talked, on The History of Painting. He also exhibited six of his original paintings. An exhibit of school drawings and the handicraft of the Industrial class was on display. Mr. Ainsley, prin cipal of the school, spoke about his art class. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Bundy of Eli zabeth City, were present and greet ed the Association. The Seventh Grade won both at tendance prizes. A committee was appointed to entertain the Seventh Grade pupils. The Woodville group presented a quilt to an underprivileged child. WOMAN'S CLUB OBSERVES FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY Members of the Woman's Olub met last Thursday at the club room in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the club. Tfie club room was beau tifully decorated with spring flowers. At the business meeting the club decided to disband after the May meeting and reorganize next fall. Miss Kate Blanchard had charge of a very interesting musical pro gram with the following taking part: Vocal solos by Mrs. Charles E. John son, Miss Katherine Jessup, R. S. Monds and Louis Anderson. Alton Munns played a trumpet solo, Har rell Johnson a piano solo, and Mr. Rhodes a violin solo. After the program, tea and cookies were served. ATTEND NORFOLK AFFAIR Dr. and Mrs. C. A.' Davenport, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde McCallum, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Winslow, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Hudson, Miss Mae Wood Winslow and. Mrs. J. E. Winslow were among the guests at an oyster roast given Sunday by Mr. and Mrs. Tom Wilcox at their home in Nor folk, Va.
