Perquimans County Doctor Says:
"I am voting for Mr. Maxwell because of his fair and practicaO
plan to get the Farmer out of the Mud. This especially appeals to
me as a Doctor who lives in a part of the State where very little has
heretofore been done to make all-weather roads of the secondary
roads. The more thickly populated sections of the State have received
benefits out of all proportion to their need, when compared with this
section, in the construction and maintenance of secondary roads.'
DR. C. A. DAVENPORT.
Perquimans County Farmer Says:
' "I am supporting Mr. Maxwell because his program should ap
peal to every farmer in the State, and particularly to the farmers in
the more thinly populated sections, such as Northeastern North Caro
lina. He impresses me as being one hundred percent sincere in advo
cating measures to help the farmers. We are justified in relying on
his promises because of his past reputation as being a man who has
never fooled the people of the State in any statement he has ever
made to them."
S. P. (PETE) MATHEWS,
Hertford. R. F. D. 1.
Another Farmer Says:
"I am going to vote for A. J. Maxwell because I am impressed
with the knowledge that he has gained of governmental affairs. Learn
ing, as I did, that due to his father's death he was forced to stop
school at the age of 14 he has learned his experience the hard way,
and therefore I believe his practical training makes him the best
equipped man to head this State government.

With war conditions what they are in Europe . . . why not, in
North Carolina, elect the man Governor who knows the most about
North Carolina governmental problems?
It is admitted by everyone that A. J. Maxwell is the man best
equipped to guide this State through any impending crisis that might
arise (luring the next four years.
What Papers Say of Mr. Maxwell
Maxwell Seen As Best Man For Governor
There is no field of human activity, responsibility, or reason in
which rational voters object to Maxwell, because he has been weighed
in the balance and found not wanting, and because he has had un
equalled experience, making him exceptionally competent and fit for
the job of Governor of this State. People in every walk of life know
that A. J. Maxwell is qualified.

Best Equipped For Governorship
If the Observer should give it as an opinion that A. J. Maxwell is
the best equipped citizen of North Carolina ... for the Governorship
. . . best equipped by training, experience and by knowledge of gov
ernmental affairs . . . we believe such a statement would go unchal
lenged by the informed and unprejudiced mind of the State. The fact
of the fitness of Mr. Maxwell for the Governorship will be conceded,
we contend, by the informed and the fair mind of the people of the
State.
