BRIDGE LUNCHEON 1 Miss Nita Newbold was a delight ful hostess on Tuesday morning when she entertained at a bridge luncheon at her home. Summer flowers attractiveiy arranged made a lovely setting for the four tablesJ At the conclusion of the game Miss Margaret Broughton was awarded: high score prize. 1 The hostess served a delicious chicken salad plate. j Guests were: Misses Ruth Hollo well, Dorothy Hollowell, Florence' Darden, Martha Ann Clendening, Anne Felton, Alice Roberson, Tom mie Rose, Marguerite Ward, Jeanette McDaniel, Foy Stephenson, Margaret Broughton, Maewood Pierce, Prue Newby, Frances Newby, Marie An- 'derson, end Jean Newbold. HOLDS OPEN HOUSE Miss Marguerite Ward was hostess at an informal open house Tuesday evening from 8 to 11 at the home of her parents, Dr. and Mrs. I. A. Ward, on Church Street. The affair was in compliment to Miss Foy Stephenson, ot Pendleton; Miss Joy Dunn, of Scotland Neck, and Miss Jeanette McDaniel, of Jackson, who are the house-guests of Miss Ward, and also complimenting Miss Nan Lovelace, of Crisp, Miss Dorothy Hollowell, of Hobbsville, Miss Martha Ann Clen dening, of Greensboro, and Miss Tommie Rose, of Henderson, who are visiting here. The spacious home was decorated with summer flowers and ferns. The dining table was covered with a love ly hand-made lace cloth and laden with an assortment of sandwiches, cookies, pickles, peanuts and mints. A huge punchbowl formed the center piece and was presided over by Miss Ruth Alice Ward. About 60 of the young people of Hertford enjoyed Miss Ward's hos pitality. The out-of-town guests in cluded Miss Martha Ann Clendening, Nan Lovelace, Ruth Vail Selby, of Edenton, Dorothy Hollowell, Tommie Rose, Foy Stephenson, Joy Dunn and Jeanette McDaniel, and Tom Bell and Scott Ferebee, of Shawboro, Richard Salisbury, of Scotland Neck, Dick Calloway, of Henderson, Phil Sawyer, .
