Miss Alma Leggett, a member of
the Perquimans County Central
Grammar School faculty, has return
ed to resume her school duties after
being called home last week to be at
the bedside1 of her brother who sus
tained serious injuries in an automo
bile wreck." ' Mrs. Nathan Relfe was
the substituting teacher for Miss
Leggett.

Miss Helen Morgan charmingly
entertained her bridge club on Thurs
day evening at her home. Those
playing were. Mesdames Charles E.
Johnson, Charles Williford, Henry
Clay Stokes, Carroll Holmes, George
Barbee, Tommy Jessup, and Miss
Mary Sumner. High score prize was
awarded Mrs. Stokes, Mrs. Jessup
received the prize for low score, and
1 floating prize went to Mrs.

The first meeting of the Woman'?
Society of Christian Service of Wood
land Church was held at the Church
on September 12th. This Society
was formerly known as the Woman's
Missionary Society. t

"Bringing In the Sheaves" was used
as the opening hymn, after which
Mrs. Keaton read from Isaiah. Mrs.
Ernest Cartwright offered prayer.'

meeting was turned over to the pro
gram leader, Mrs. W. H. Cartwright.

The Delia Shamburger Missionary
Society of the Methodist Church met
at the home of Mrs. Cecil Winslow
on Monday evening. Fourteen mem
bers were present and a new member,
Mrs. Henry Clay Sullivan, was wel
comed, Mrs. Ben Winslow was in
charge of an interesting program.
The hostess served dainty refresh
ments during the social hour at the
end of the meeting.
