FRIDAY, SPTEMBER 27, 1940 BIBLti THOUGHT FOR WEEK T . , . v-l And let us not be I DO NOT QUIT: weary in well-doing: for in due sea son we shall reap if we faint not. Gal. 6:9. It's A Start The decision of the oint committee from the Rotary and lions Clubs and the Parent-Teachers Association . to circulate petitions seeking back ing for a gymnasium. for Perquimans County is a start in the right direc tion. Of course, as in any undertaking of this type, Just the preliminary outlines of the matter have been gone into . . . the main objective of the committee at the present time is to try to enlist the aid of the peo-' pie of Hertford and Perquimans County in ths project. Petitions to the County Board of Commissioners and the Town Board are being drawn up and will be cir culated for signatures within the next few days. The object of these petitions is to show the respective Boards that this project is a desirable proposition, and ask the Boards to consider the neces sary steps to be taken in building the project. t The Weekly will endeavor to ex plain full details, of the matter as they materialize, but at ' this time we wish every person to think of the matter . . . and to realize the bene fits that a Community House con taining a gymnasium will give, not only to the youth of the county, but also to the adults. Congratulations To The H. D. Clubs Anyone seeing the fine exhibits at the County Fair can readily see, the splendid work that is being car ried on by the various Home Demon- stration. uups throughout the uun ty. The individual exhibits show the different types of projects under taken . . . and each show the re - markable talent by the various mem bers of the Clubs. Our congratulations to Miss Fran ces Maness and to each member of the Perquimans County Home Dem onstration Clubs on the fine work. , t 1 The Fair Parade oi. Kof J J . parade as part of the program, but the parade held here Tuesday in connection with Children's Day at the Fair was an outstanding feature. The Lions Club did well to include this feature in the program, if for no other reason than it provided one of the largest groups ever assembled in Hertford to witness the entire school system of the County. The children were the biggest at traction in the parade and their con duct and appearance was one that could claim the praise of any county.
