With a brand new yea just a few days off, Jesus's words, as to what is expected of his followers 'ought to be a challenge to all! Christians-n resolve to live mnr faitli. fullyinp in the coming year. j in order to live one's life fully and faithfully as a Christian shnniw we have to prepare ourselves for liv ing and making ready for dying and the life hereafter. Peraei danger that his disciples might be come so aDflorbed m preparing for living this life bv orovidinc for thai,. physical needs (which is proper in its place), Jesus purged that they place his kingdom first and ba lw preparew for his return. In order to make his meaning clearer to his listeners, Jesus related me story or the master whn tnnnA his servants faithful and 'waiting for fum, wnereupon he rewarded them. In a similar parable Jesus Hm-lnroH that the master of the house does not Know at. what hour the thief may come and, for this reason, he must be constantly on his guard to pro tect his possessions. He applied the message of these parables to his dis ciple in the words: "Be ye also ready: for in an hour that ye think not, the Son of man cometh." . There are two phases in life for which we must be prepared. We must prepare ourselves to Qive life at its fullest and best. This natur ally includes the proper cultivation and development of the three-fold nature of an individual his body, his mind and his soul. We should not deveQop either nature., overlook ing any other. Many people anx iously watch the development of their physical beings, doing every thing necessary to the proper care of their bodies, with never a thought to the culture of their mental or spiritual natures. There are parents in every com munity who see to it, even to the point of personal sacrifice, that their children have the necesasry require ments for proper development of their bodies who, apparently, have no thought to the development of their children's spiritual or mental nature. ,lThe second phase for which we must be prepared is Christ's second coming. At times people have be come very excited about the return of our Lord, even to the extent of predicting the exact day and time. Some have sold their property, left the everyday world and gathered on a high mountain so as tn ho. the first to greet him. Luke declar es, ine ion of man cometh at an hour when ye think not." Mark also declares: "But that a t,a t,.. ""J u JIVUt knoweth no man, no, not the angel's are m neaven, neither the Son but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the ume is." We do not need to concern our selves over the time. Our Mat cern is that we shall always dive so as to be ready when he does come. Readiness for his second comfoig can uc measurea Dy our faithfulness in telling others of his And, we should remember ,that-.we cannot De ready for his coming with out adequate preparation. The ath lete who has not been thoroughly trained cannot hope to win the race. The Christian who has not given some thought to his preparation can not hope to merit the reward given for faithful stewardship. Christ urges us to be ready, to he Okf servants looking for the return of their lord from a wedding feast. We must, of ctfurse, first of all take Jesus into our hearts and lives as oayjour ana uwrd. If we do this, we will sincerelv trv t hva. of life that Jesus wants us to live' usenu, serviceable lives. rA We of una: Kind will help us face tempta tion and overcome it and wilT be a Jiyfng testimony to the power and pw Jesm unrist. te 'iSfrne dayTan of us1 will have to come face to face with God.
