MISSIONARY SOCIETY MEETS The Woman's Missionary Society of New Hope Church met Thursday afternoon, February 6, at the home of Mrs. J. A. Sawyer in New Hope, The meeting opened with singii.g of the hymn, "I Gave My Life For Thee." Prayer was offered by Mrs. D. S. Banks. Fifteen members and one visitor were present. Roll was called and. the minutes of the pre vious meeting were read. Pledge cards were distributed and dues were paid. The Society has a "Joash Box" for local offering, and find it very sat isfactory. Membership certificates were pre sented to each member. Papers on "A Better Racial Un derstanding Among the Races,'' were read by Mrs. J. A. Sawyer and Mrs. L. R. Webb. The devotional was conducted by Mrs. Mattie Robbina The theme, "Who Is My Neighbor?" was interestingly and helpfully told. The meeting was dismissed with prayer by Mrs. C. E. Sutton. The hostess served a delicious ice course S. S. CLASS MEETING The Judson Memorial Sunday School Class of the Hertford Bap tist Church met Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock with Miss Aima Leggett and Mrs. Arthur White as joint host esses. Mrs. Norman Elliott, second vice president, presided over the bus iness meeting. Miss Alma Leggett had charge of the program, with several of the members taking part. Mrs. Elliott gave the devotional and Mrs. Juke Jackson offered prayer. During the business session, it was decided to send two sick members cards, and each member was asked to bring a pollyanna to the next meeting. Mrs. Clinton Eley closed the meeting with prayer. During the social hour the hostess es served, dainty refreshments. Members present included Mes dames Charles Johnson, Olivia Hobbs, D. M. Jackson, Tommy Miller, Josiah Elliott, Hudson Butler, James Tilley, Jimmie Stallings, Rupert Ainsley, Arthur White, t Pat Kelly, Clinton Eley and Norman Elliott, Misses Alma Leggett, Keba Spivey and Jeanne White. The March meeting will be held with Miss Jeanne White. ST. CATHERINE'S GUILD MEETING THURSDAY A turkey supper will be given at i he Parish House by the ladies of the Episcopal Church on Thursday night, January 20, the affair having been postponed from an earlier date. Plans for serving the supper were perfected at the meeting of St. Cath erine's Auxiliary held at the home of Mrs. L. W. Anderson on Tuesday night. Miss Mae Wood Winslow, presi dent, presided at the meeting, which featured informal reports by Miss Winslow, Mrs. Thomas Nixon and Mrs. Anderson on the recent Con vention held at St. Paul's in Eden ton. Mrs. W. H. Hardcastle had charge of the program, and a paper was read by Mrs. W. E. White. Those present included Mesdames Frank Skinner, Agnes Williams, W. T. Brown, Themas Nixon, W. E. White, R. B. Cox, W. H. Hardcastle, Clyde McCallum, T. J .Nixon, Sr., H. A. Whitley, Brooks Whedbee. and Misses Mae Wood Winslow and Joselyn Whedbee. CIRCLE NO. TWO MEETS Circle Number Two of the Wom an's Missionary Society of the Hert ford Baptist Church met Wednesday evening at the church with Mrs. Lula Lane as hostess. Prior to the meet ing a cold plate was served by the hostess. Mrs. John Broughton was in charge of the program with sev eral members taking part. Mrs. Olivia Hobbs gave the devotional. After the program, Mrs. Charles Johnson, president, presided over the business session with routine business being transacted. Visitors present were the Rev. and Mrs. C. E. Hobgood, Mrs. I. A. Ward and Mrs. Margaret Winslow; mem bers included Mesdames Charles Johnson, Olivia Hobbs, Tommy Mill er, B. T. Wood, R. L. Holmes, E. A. Byrum, D. Spivey, B. W. Pennington, John Broughton and Lula Lane. The March meeting will be held with Mrs. R. L. Holmes at herJiome. HOSTESS TO BRIDGE CLUB Mrs. Charles E. Mrs Clara Gibbs gave the devotional and Mrs. Ann Perry had charge of a very interesting program with Mrs. Gussie Chalk, Mrs. Doris Ainsley and Mrs. Ann Perry taking part. During the business session, new officers were elected. During the social hour the hostess es served a delicious ice course. Two visitors, Mrs. 1. A. Ward and Mrs. Kelly, were present and about four teen members. The March meeting will be held with Mrs. Edna Eley and Mrs. Lizzie Lee Cox. MISSIONARY SOCIETY MEETS The Missionary Society of I'iney Woods Friends Church met Saturday afternoon, February 8, at the home of Mrs. T. C. Perry, with Mrs. V. C. Lane as joint hostess. The meeting opened by singing "The Old Rugged Cross." The devotional was conduct ed from John 14:1-3, John 15:17-21, 25-27, by Miss Margaret B. White. The roll va.s called and the minute of the previous meeting were read and approved. The topic of the lesson "Genesis of the Exodus" taken from the Study Book "Uprooted Americans" and was conducted ip a very interesting man ner by Miss Lucy White.
