Mrs. Ruth Everett, of Raleigh, field worker for the North Carolina Education Association wai , the prin cipal speaker at the annual banquet of the County Council of the Parent Teacher Association held at Per quimans High School Thursday, night, when covers were laid for one hun dred guests. ' ' Mrs. John Symons, president of the Council, presided, and Mrs. J. R. Futrell welcomed the guests, with Mrs. Walston, of Elizabeth City, dis trict chairman, giving the response. Mrs. F. T. Johnson had charge of an interesting program which in cluded gioup singing led by Miss Mary Jane Spruill, a trumpet duet by Elizabeth Darden and Eva Brink ley Harris, and a vocal duet by Misa Nell Riddick and Dave Fuller. The banquet was prepared and served by the home economics depart ment of Perquimans High School, under the direction of Mrs. T. E. Harrell. Interesting reports were made by the president of each P. T. A. unit of the county and numerous distin guished guests were recognized. Sunday In Elizabeth City Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Mayes and Mrs. J. E. Home For Week-end ST. CATHERINE'S GUILD MEETS St. Catherine's Auxiliary of the Episcopal Church met Tuesday night with Miss Jocelyn Whedbee, . with Mrs. W. H. Hudson, the president, presiding. Plans were discussed for further Lenten work by the Auxiliary, which includes sewing for a hospital, with the group meeting once each week at the home of Miss Mae Wood Wins low for an hour's study and work.
