The Women's Society of Christian Bervice of New Hope Methodisi Church met at the home of Mrs, Mattie Robbins on Thursday after noon with the president, Mrs. C. W. Griffin, presiding. "How Firm a Foundation" was sung and Mrs. Rob bins offered prayer. The minutes were read and at roll call dues were paid and' one new member was en rolled. Mrs. C. W. Griffin gave a splendid report of the Rocky Mount confer ence which was interesting and much enjoyed. Mrs. W. W. Spencer ana Mrs. J. A. Sawyer gave interesting readings. The devotional was con ducted by Mrs. Mattie Robbins. Af ter the Scripture lesson, she gave a very inspiring talk on stewardship. The Society sent a basket of fruit to a sick neighbor, which was highly appreciated and gratefully received. The meeting was dismissed by Mrs. Dee Banks with a lovely prayer. During the social hour the hostess served a delicious ice and sweet course, carrying out the Easter motif. Sunday Here Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Week-end at Winfall Miss Audrey Umphlett and Miss Myrtle Cooper, of Jackson, were week-end guests of Miss Myrtle Umphlett, at Winfall. 4-H CLUB MEETS Perquimans High School 4-H Club met on Thursday evening, April 17, at the Agricultural Building. The meeting was called to order and "America" was sung, after which Marjorie Forehand read a poem "My Creed." "Styles" was sung and Virginia Wilson read a poem "Look Pleasant." The program closed with the singing of "God Bless America." During the business meeting Jayne Griffin was appointed to take charge of the recreation for the May meet ing. Josephine Hunter and Myra Layden were asked, to prepare a dairy demonstration for the next meeting. Miss Frances Maness, home agent, made several announcements after which the meeting closed with the Club pledge being repeated in unison. During the social hour games were enjoyed and delicious refreshments were served. CLASS MEETING The Judson Memorial Sunday School Class of the Hertford Baptist Church met Tuesday evening wit Sunday in Norfolk Mr. and Mrs. Simon Rutenburg and Miss Eliza Brace were guests of Mrs. Scott Bell, in Norfolk, Va., on Sunday.
