MARY TOWE CIRCLE MEETS The Mary Towe Missionary Circle of the Methodist Church met Monday evening with Miss Joyce Stokes. Miss Ona Mary Stephens had charge of the program. Interesting read ings were made by Miss Mary Towe, Miss Kabherine Jessup and Mrs. Lucius Blanchard. Ten members were present and to these the host ess served delicious refreshments after the meeting. They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. James Byrum, Miss Myra Chappell and Miss Margaret Kaper. The bride is the daughter op Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Messner, of West chester, Pa. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Chappell. The bride wore a costume of blue with white accessories. The newlyweds are visiting with his parents for a week, after which they will return to Westchester to make their home. CIRCLE NO. SIX MEETS monthly session Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Maggie Winslow with Miss Dorah White as assistant hostess. Mrs. Clara Gibbs had charge, of a very interesting pro gram with Mrs. Doris Gregory, Mrs. Annie Mae Baker and Miss Blanche Butler taking part Mrs. Gibbs of fered prayer and, the meeting was dismissed after a hymn. Norman Chesson, of Courtland, Va., and Gene Proctor, of High Point, have recently visited with Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Proctor. Vance Proctor accompanied his brother, Gene, and uncle Blount Chesson, to High Point Monday. Funeral Services Held Saturday For Esther Lee Collums Funeral services for Esther Lee Collums, 14, who died on Thursday night, were conducted Saturday after noon at 3 o'ctock at the Pierce Fun eral Home wltn the Rev. J. D. Cran ford officiating. During the service the choir of Cedar Grove Church sang "Shall We Gather at the River", "We Shall Sleep, But Not Forever," "Safe In the Arms of Jesus." In terment was made at Belvidere. The casket was covered with a dou ble spray of white gladiolii .and Eas ter lilies. Pallbearers were: Wilton Lane, Ermier Lane, Otis Lane, Rufus Proc tor, Haywood Proctor and Grant Lane. REVIVAL AT EVANS CHURCH Revival services are being held at Evans Methodist Church this week. The pastor, Rev. Mr. Stanford, is be ing assisted by the Rev. Mr. Cran ford, of Winfall. The public is cor dially invited to attend. According to headlines this week British officials and semi-officials in this country are beginning to make "strong talk" regarding America's entry into the war. One Britisher in Boston this week told an inter viewer that Britian would need U. S. manpower to win and that it was "our war as much as any one's."
