PACS EKST Executive Committee Concludes Program On Christian Education During the month of October and through the first part of November, the Executive Committee of N. C. Yearly Meeting of Friends put on a cooperative program of Christian Education for its churches through out the State. Each , Sunday afternoon and even ing, alternating at the two Friends churches in the county, the various phases of the work were discussed by the pastors and others. Sunday, the 9th, the afternoon and evening services at Piney Woods Church closed the series of programs. B. L. Jjfhjje, jrincipl of Sunbury High School, gave a stirring address on the place of Religion in the life of a community. Mrs. L. Jay Winslow stressed the value and influence of good books and reading, and pointed out the fact that every church school should have a library of reading material suit able for its group of workers, and for the community at large. Charles Hendricks, of High Point, representing the Youth of the Y. M., in a clear and forceful manner, told of the program of activities of the young people throughout the State. The inspiring devotionals proceed ing each session contributed largely to the programs. On the whole, the inspiration and information gained proved very bene ficial. NEW HOPE NEWS Mrs. J. A. Banks, Sunday. Mrs. Dan Simpson and Miss Maude Simpson returned home Sunday after a few days' visit with Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Gray, in Suffolk, Va. Little Miss Billie Dail is able to be out again after being ill. Mrs. John Hurdle and small daugh ter, Sal lie Ruth, have returned home after vhiting in Richmond, Va., over the week-end. Trim and Frank Wilson have re turned home from Atlanta, Ga., where they purchased a carload of young mules which will be shipped here and sold at the Wilson Mule Exchange. C, FRIDAY, Miller-Byrum Vows Read At Winfall MRS. JAMES BYRUM Miss Ann Miller, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Miller, of Elizabeth City and Winfall, and James Wesley Byrum, son of Mr. ani Mrs. E. A. Byrum, of Hertford, were married Thursday afternoon at 5:.0 o'clock, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Hollowell, in Winfall. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. D. Cranford, pastor of the Winfall Methodist Church, before an improvised altar of palms, white chrysanthemums and lighted tapera. The bride wore a traveling suit of Velour du Nord, trimmed with silver fox. Her accessories were black and her flowers were white orchids and lilies of the valley. Following the ceremony, a recep tion was held for the immediate families and relatives. The dining table, which was cov ered with a cloth of white Irish lace and linen, was centered with a two tier bridal cake, flanked by lighted tapers. Mrs. Ebert Bailey, of Elizabeth City, sister of the bride, presided at the punch bowl. Mrs. Jimmie Earnhardt, of Eden ton, sister of the bride, and Miss Lucille Long, of Bethel, served a de licious ice course carrying out a color scheme of green and white.
