Sitterson. In Norfolk This Week Mrs. Raymond Holmes is spending several days this week in Norfolk, Va., and visiting her husband, who is a patient at the Marine Hospital. Tuesday In Eden ton Mrs. Charles Johnson and Mrs. Olivia Hobbs spent Tuesday in Edenton visiting relatives. Visiting Father Mrs. S. E. Bush and daughter, of Portsmouth, Va., spnt several days this week with her father, C. 0. Fowler. Week-end Here Mac White, of Newport News, Va., spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Hurley Hoffler. Sunday In Norfolk Mr. and Mrs. V. N. Darden were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bar row in Norfolk, Va., Sunday. They i were accompanied home by their daughter, a student nurse at Mary land University Hospital, whom they met at Newport News. Miss Dar den will spend several days at home. Jenkins and Dot Jenkins, of Norfolk, Va., recently visited Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Darden. BOOK CLUB MEETS Mrs. R. L. Knowles and Mrs. R. T. Clarke were hostesses to the Book Club Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Knowles. Mrs. Charles E. John son and Mrs. Henry Stokes were in charge of the program. After the business meeting and the program, the hostesses served dainty refreshments. W. C. T. U. MEETING The Woman's Christian Temper ance Union will meet Wednesday af ternoon at 3:30 o'clock, at the home of Mrs. L. C. Winslow. All mem bers are urged to be present. JUNIOR BAND PLAYS On Friday evening, April 30th, the Grammar School Junior Band and piano pupils of Mrs. R. M. Riddick will be presented in a musical play let, entitled, "Music Does Its Bit." The public is invited. HOSTESS TO BRIDGE CLUB Mrs. S. P. Jessup entertained her bridge club last Wednesday evening at her home on Front Street. Those playing were Mesdames Carroll R. Holmes, T. L. Jessup, W. H. Hard castle, Clyde McCallum, C. A. Daven port, J. R. Futrell, Trim Wilson, H. A. Whitley, J. E. Winslow, L. W. Anderson and J. H. Newbold, and Miss Mae Wood Winslow. High score prize went to Mrs. Wilson. The hostess, assisted by Mrs. Willis Jessup, served a salad course. ENTERTAINS AT ROOK Mrs. T. J. Nixon, Jr., was hostess last Friday evening at a rook party at her home on Front Street. Those enjoying the evening were Mes dames G. H. Tucker, Carlton Cannon, Archie T. Lane, J. H. Towe, Edgar Morris, D. F. Reed, Julian White, Cecil Winslow, R. M. Fowler, Charles Whedbee, and Miss Mildred Reed. High score prize went to Mrs. Mor ris, low to Mrs. Winslow and 'Mrs. Fowler received the bingo prize. The hostess served a salad course. ROOK CLUB ENTERTAINED Mrs. Bill White was hostess to her Rook Club last Tuesday evening at her home. Those playing were Mes dames L. S. White, Martin Towe, Edgar Fields, Tom Cox, Jimmy Stall ings, Houston Edwards, J. G. Lane. High score prize went to Mrs. L. S. White and Mrs. Towe received second high. A dainty salad course was served, MARY TOWE GROUP MEETS Miss Ruth Elliott was hostess to the meeting of the Mary Towe Mis sionary group on Monday evening at her home. Miss Elliott had charge of the program, being assisted by Miss Grace Knowles. Miss Sara Brinn and Mrs. R. S. Monds also were on the program. Miss Mary Towe, president, presided over the business session. Those present were Mes dames Vincent Hill, Morgan Walker, Edgar Fields, Jesse Lee Harris, and Misses Sara Brinn, Grace KnowleB, Mary Towe and Jeannette Fields, and Mrs. R. S. Monds.
