Mrs. J. H. Baker announces the
marriage of her daughter, Jessie, to
Pfc. William Cox, son of Mrs. E. S.
Pierce. The ceremony was perform
ed on Saturday evening, April 10, at
7 o'clock, at the First Methodist
Church in Gulfport, Miss. The Rev.
C. C. Clarke read the vows.
Mrs. Cox wore an aqua suit with
yellow accessories and her flowers
was a corsage of yellow roses.
Fred DeLong, of California, and
Leonard Bass, of Edenton, friends of
the bride and groom, were attendants.

her home. Those enjoying the even

Cox, Jim Bass, Jimmy Stallings and
Thomas Tilley. A sweet course was
served by the hostess.
High score prize went to Mrs.
Bass, second high to Mrs. Bill White
and Mrs. Cox received the floating
prize.
W. M. S. MEETS AT CHURCH
The Woman's Missionary Society of
the Hertford Baptist Church met on
Monday afternoon at the church.
Mrs. E. W. Mayes was in charge of a
very interesting program. The open
ing hymn was "All Hail the Power
of Jesus Name," after which the roll
was called and the meeting went into
a business session.

Miss Eloise Scott was guest of
honor at a bridge party on Saturday
evening when Mrs. T. P. Brinn and
Miss Esther Evans entertained at the
