C, was promoted this week to the grade of Private First Class. He is stationed at Keesler Field, Miss., where the Army Air Forces Technical Training Command is training thousands of future ground crews to service and maintain the R-24 Liberator Bombers. HOSTESS AT ROOK PARTY Mrs. L. :S. White entertained at a rook party on Thursday evening at her home. Those enjoying the even ing were: Mesdames Houston Ed wards, Martin Towe, Bill White, Tom Cox, Jim Bass, Jimmy Stallings and Thomas Tilley. A sweet course was served by the hostess. High score prize went to Mrs. Bass, second high to Mrs. Bill White and Mrs. Cox received the floating prize. W. M. S. MEETS AT CHURCH The Woman's Missionary Society of the Hertford Baptist Church met on Monday afternoon at the church. Mrs. E. W. Mayes was in charge of a very interesting program. The open ing hymn was "All Hail the Power of Jesus Name," after which the roll was called and the meeting went into a business session.
