HOSTESS TO BRIDGE CLUB Mrs. Charles M. Williford enter tained her bridge club on Tuesday evening at her home on Dobb Street. Those enjoying the evening were Mesdames T. L. Jessup, H. C. Stokes, Chas. E. Johnson, Carroll Hqlmes and Max Campbell, Misses Mary Sumner and Helen Morgan. High score prize went to Mrs. Johnson, low to Mrs. Campbell, and Mrs. Jessup received the bingo prize. The hostess served a sweet course. ENTERTAINS BRIDGE CLUB Mrs. R. M. Riddick was hostess to her bridge club on Tuesday evening at her home on Dobb Street. Those playing wore Mesdames J. G. Rober son, Herman Winslow, J. O. Felton, V. N. Darden, B. G. Koonce, W. G. Wright, Charles Whedbee and Miss Kate Blanchard., High score prize and the bingo prize went to Miss Kate Blanchard. Mrs. Koonce received low score and bingo prizes. A sweet course was served bv the hostess. MEETS The Woman's Missionary Union of the Hertford Baptist Church met on Monday evening at the church with Mrs. Howard Dawkins presiding. The meeting was opened with the watch word of the year and the hymn, "All Hail the Power of Jesus Name," was sung. Mrs. I. A. Ward offered pray er. At roll call Circle No. Three had the most members present. Mrs. G. K. Tucker presided over a very interesting program given by Circle No. Three, with Mrs. Tommy Jessup, Mrs. Joe Ward and Mrs. C. R. Holmes taking part. An inspiring devotional was given by Mrs. I. A. Ward, taken from the Book of Job. She told of his pa tience, trust, faith and last, of his submission to God's will. The meeting closed with a solo, "1 Would Be True," by Mrs, G. R. Tucker. MINNIE WILSONS MEET The Minnie Wilson Mi.ssioimry Society of the Methodist Church met on Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Herman Winslow. Mrs. Wins low was in charge of a very interest ing program. "We've A Story To Tell To The Nation" was used as the opening hymn. Mrs. Jamie Rountree con ducted the devotional, which consist ed of Scripture reading and prayer by Mrs. Rountree and Mrs. Elizabeth White. Mrs. Robert Winslow gave the lesson which was of interest to all. Mrs. Elizabeth White, Mrs. Mary White Winslow and Mrs. DeWitt Winslow were appointed as a nomi nating committee to appoint the officers for the new year. A special Missionary collection was taken which amounted to $2.75. Members reported visits to the .sick and 4.'ff chapters of the 1'ible read during the month.
