The ceremony was performed at South Mills on Saturday, May 22. Attend Graduation of Daughter Mr. and Mrs. V. N. Darden left Thursday to attend the graduation exercises of their daughter, Miss ; Florence Darden, who was graduated from University Hospital, Baltimore, Md., as a nurse. They were accom panied to Baltimore by Mrs. Beverly Tucker, and daughter, Polly, Mrs. W. M. Tucker and Mrs. Ance White. Mrs. White end Mrs. W. M. Tucker will visit their daughters, who are student nurses at the University Hospital. Visiting Paresis D. F. Mrs. Bernard Winslow and child- New passenger autos rationed to buyers from March 2, 1942, to March 1, 1943, totaled 305,876 cars. MEETING The Woman's Christian Temper ance Union held its May meeting on Wednesday afternoon in the Metho-' dist Church. ' Mrs. H. G. Dawkins stated that l perhaps folks are aware as never be-1 fore of alcohol as an enemy. She said, "It is an enemy to health. Alcohol is the great enemy f our homes. Our country needs our mon ey, and yet, what is spent for alco holic beverages runs into billions of dollars. A large per cent of chil dren in our orphanages are there be cause of alcohol." Mrs. K. L. Knowles told a story on the evils of alcohol and why ab stinence is a necessary stone in the foundation of home-making. Mrs. E. W. Mayes read the minutes. Mrs. L. C. Winslow, president, pre sided at the business session. Mrs. Winslow urged that each member write her representatives in Wash ington, asking them to support the bills relative to the problem of alco hol. The meeting was closed with prayer by Mrs. Knowles.
